It's the end of the world...

Hello, players!
Harbringers of Woe... nice name for a game! The author is Matseb2611, none other than the person that made the interesting Incitement 2 (also the first one, but I did not play it ehe!) and the hilariously fun Just Face It!, two games I can recommend but for totally different reasons!

Harbringers of Woe is a totally different game from the ones I previously mentioned: in this game we play as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the good guys on a mission issued by the Archangel Michael to hunt down the lost souls, find Alastor and stop his plans of making chaos and unrest in the Underworld. That's it, simple and straight to the point!

They can be just four but even an horde of undeads won't stop them!

Harbringers of Woe is a dungeon crawling adventure that took me two hours to complete. Yes, do not expect an adventure with a deep story and choices, this is a short and linear exploration of the underworld with battles against lesser undead souls and great demons. The good thing is that enemies are all visible and avoidable, moreover you can choose the difficulty between not two, not three but FOUR levels: from Hard to Hardochistic, no easy my friend, I'm sorry! Anyway do not worry, IF you select the easiest difficulty you can save anytime and you will be able to use the Restore Shrines to revive the (un)dead party members for free (mind that some enemies will be revived too). At the higher difficulty the Restore Shrines become also save points, but at the highest no saving and no revive available for you! That's simple, this is a game of battles!

Yes, but a game of battles that require some strategy: our Horsement have several different skills, they can inflict status effects, buff each other and cause damage, but their skills require expending Energy Points, so managing this resource in battle is very important, like choosing the right equipment.

Mapping is in my opinion pretty good: the game is set in Hell, still there are different locations from dark catacombs, caves, the shores of a lake of blood... whoa! It's a short game but with great attention to the details, I like the fact that the game uses edited sprites for almost every single creature you will see, giving a unique, dark look to this game. This is a cool looking game!

Oooh I like big demons, they make a lot of noise when they fall down!

Final Verdict
Harbringers of Woe is a short but well designed dungeon delving adventure with a simple but original story: I really would like it was expanded, because the dialogues are straight to the point and the main focus are the challenging battles, in any case it manage to create a really unique setting and adventure. The character are stylish and cool, that's the main reason why I wish the game was longer and bigger and... nah it's ok as it is, maybe it's not for everyone but still this is a good mini-scenario with many battle encounters. Give it a try if you like this kind of gameplay, it's really a good game!
