I think achievements are fun. I also think there could be more of them. Why? Because they're fun to collect, though of course it shouldn't be too easy. So far we have achievements that are gained mostly from events, though there are some extra achievements as well.

What if there was more achievements for us to collect? Yay or Nay? All of them wouldn't need to be huge maker score boosts, but little rewards for doing cool things, though there could be variety in the achievements, and some of them could be harder to get.

I'd like to start some discussion on this matter. :D

If people were to generally agree there could be more achievements, please do also suggest ideas for achievements if you have any!

Some ideas for what to gain achievements from:

Submit 10/25/50/100 reviews.
Submit 10/25/50/100 articles.
Submit 10/25/50/100 scripts.
Submit 10/25/50/100 tutorials.

The achievement of these would always upgrade when you'd get to the next level. Some of these could be combined as well maybe.

Complete 1 / 5 / 10 games.
Have the highest buzz score of entire year.
Be featured in spotlight.
Have a gem game.
Have a classic game.
Be a winner in one or more Misao categories.
Be a tester in 3/5/10 complete games.
Do a "Let's Play" or "Let's try" of 10 or more games.

All of these would need some cool names and badges to go with them as well, but I'm sure there are people here willing to help with those.

Anyway, thoughts? Moar ideas? It would be cool to have more achievements to collect, because it's a site feature anyway, so why not to take more advantage of it. It encourages activity, after all.

We've been discussing this very matter off and on for a few weeks, actually! Perfect timing for a brainstorm thread. I love the idea of implementing more achievements, and some of those are decent. As far as gem/classic game achievements go...I'm not sure. Most of those games are likely to have spotlights/features.
Crossing the Streams: Livestream a Let's Try or something related to RMN content.
Critical Hit: Have a game with an average score of 4.5 or higher with 2 or more reviews.
DAMN!: Have a game with a 1-star or lower review.

I'm drawing a blank immediately thinking of achievements, but I think that it's a worthwhile idea.

The main barrier to some achievements is there's no automated way to keep track of who has 5/10/however many reviews/tutorials/scripts. kentona already does stat queries every month so things like that could be updated then, perhaps.

With my rpgmaker-event-code level of understanding reagrding programming I imagined something like that not being too hard to implement.

Also I think it's a great idea. (But I also think that we should have our makerscore numbers thrown into an exp curve to determine our rpg-style-levels and have that as a badge of honor, so what do I know? :D)

All I got from that was levels! That would be so awesome.
The achievements idea is amazing, it would be nice to have something like that on RMN.
We already have achievements, it's just that most achievements are achieved through competitive events. I would love to see more non-competitive achievements, seeing as how I don't like participating in contests.
