If you can control the accents of the arpeggios or the background motives it would be easier to understand the pulse

What do you mean by that? Control the accents? o:

author=CastorOnline
Alternate the melody and the arpeggios so the melody can be always the "important" thing to listen

Alternate it? Like have the arpeggio and then the melody instead of having them both at the same time or?
@Reks:

Accents are well... certain notes are accentuated, like the syllables of spoken speech, if this makes sense. Certain notes are just slightly louder; more pronounced.

Hope that helps!

If you're into post-hardcore/metalcore, you can check out my old band The Fisher at www.thefisher.bandcamp.com I did vocals! I also have my own stuff up at www.soundcloud.com/villeinsoul
So just yesterday I acquired LMMS and Final Fantasy VI soundfont and decided to give it a try by doing some experimental battle theme. I think I failed miserably. ;P

Sounds very dungeon-y, and the organs accent the general tone very well!
So I just recently started experimenting with LMMS and porting my MIDIs into the program and going to town. This is the end result.

This one doesn't really have a thematic purpose, just messing around with all the effects options.

A combination with orchestral virtual sounds and my electric guitar, this one is for a video game I was making, I will be taken back this game once I have the time :D

Made a chillwave track earlier, had a ton of fun with it: https://soundcloud.com/literature-corner/focus

The first thing this makes me think is "this desperately needs to be mastered".
That intro sound also sounded pretty bad, but the rest of the track was great!

I know, mixing is my weakness :/, but if you listen my oldest mixings you will notice that I'm improving haha.

I did another one, only guitar, it sounds better with acoustic guitar (classical), but I don't have the resources to record with a good sound my acoustic guitar, so I recordit with electric guitar. This one is for my girlfriend :D

Petrichor

Inspired by Celtic music!

Old Tavern

Inspired by medieval music, and an experiment in writing in Dorian mode.
I've got to remember to actually post music here, haha. Here's a track from Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass; it's called Adventuring for Beginners:

Some belated feedback:
@NakedTuesday: Sounds like the start of a big adventure! To me, it's really reminiscent of film music (with the exception of the synthesized instrumentation). So, if you're going for something really cinematic, that piece works for me.

@Conmon: I like writing in Dorian from time to time, though I tend to do that in proggier stuff instead of embracing the medieval angle. I don't love the fire sounds in Old Tavern, though; one thing you might do (if you put this in a game) is make a BGS of the fire and have that play underneath it in certain situations. I like the track as a piece, but it has moments--like the choir--that feel a bit off for a tavern. Given the right setting (like the tavern seeming like a "church" to the people), then it'll work. I liked Petrichor quite a bit; lots of energy there.

@Castor: The melody sounds like a sadder Oh My Darling, Clementine at times, so, uh, take that as you will. Your playing is super clean in that video, though.

Ooh, I'll actually have to try my hand at prog-style music. As for Old Tavern, it's not meant for a video game, I just wanted to write a medieval-esque song where you could close your eyes and actually feel like you're in a tavern. On the flip-side, I also wanted to sneak in a bit of extra medieval influences, like the organ and choir, which is outside of a tavern... but uh... I dunno, maybe the church is right next door!

Every once in a while I'll hit a wall where I can't imagine myself writing a song better than my last one, which is where I'm at with Petrichor. I'm not trying to sound conceited, it's just that I reach a peak of musical writing ability, where stuff is just flowing straight from my head onto a sequencer, and afterwards, even if I write a dozen more songs, I'll never feel like I can surpass that one (even though there are a gazillion songs out there that are better than it). I haven't written anything in a couple weeks, and it's always just a brief phase, but I'm hoping I can write something better, if I decide to open up FL Studio anytime soon.
I don't know; I like to think that every day I get a little bit better at music. The next song I write might not be better than the last, but I know that there's always the potential for it to be. So, I think the feeling that I might be able to make something better keeps pushing me to compose more. So, uh...keep at it!
