I NEED IDEAS FOR SUPERHEROES/SUPERHEROINES

I thought of something that could actually be ridiculously fun to work on, something that I can try to let my imagination run wild with. I want to be creative and original with a game, and I haven't done that for a long time. I want to make a superhero-cenric RPG, but not based on anything copyrighted or trademarked. No DC, Marvel, etc. I want to make a totally original world of superpowered heroes and such.

I'm already coming up with a big list of potential names of male and female superheroes and what kind of powers they could have, but I want the sheer scope of this to be pretty big. I'm not aiming for epic or anything, I just want diversity so that the player wouldn't be going up against the same ten villains over and over again.

Really all I'm looking for are ideas to use. Nothing really well thought out or descriptive, just little bits I could use to fill out my own little superhero universe. Just random heroes and villains I could use.

Basically, here's all I'm looking for:

Name/Gender/Power. Anything additional would be okay, but isn't really required at all such as whether they're good or evil (the name would probably give it away anyway). As I said, I just want to add a bunch of potential heroes/villains to my growing list that I'm working on now, and it would also give me an opportunity to see what kind of basic ideas people here would churn out which in turn would let me know what kind of heroes/villains various people would find interesting.

Not looking for carbon copies of DC/Marvel characters, but they're great to use as inspiration. One of the hero ideas I've already come up with, Titanium Man, is predictably inspired by Iron Man for example. Titanium Man would be quite different of course, because being too similar would be a bad thing and look really cheap/lazy/whatever.

So! Anyone want to throw any ideas at me?
Name:Rusty
Age:40-something
Gender:Male
Superpower: He can make most metals disintegrate by touching it.

Realizing how useless his power really is, he develops what he likes to think as "l33t" martial arts skills. Wounded during one of his heroic missions, he decided he wasn't cut out for the super-hero business so he decided to train the next generation and acts as their advisor or even mentor them in the ways of the super-hero. He supports the heroes whenever they need of it, or if they need to get through a big metal door.

Back-draft
Gender:???
Superpower: can manipulate the air forming tornadoes or strong gusts of wind.

Plague
Gender:Female
Superpower: Can causes the air around her to become poisonous, her kiss his deadly if done to a non-superhuman being.
She tries to find a cure so she may be able to touch thje one she loves, which sometimes leads to the more evil side of things in her quest.

I really am unsure if your going for serious or comedy type of game, so here's a few suggestions. Don't know if they are good, but maybe they can at least spark some inspiration. :) Good luck!
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Name: The Dastard
Gender: Male
Affiliation: Villain
Power: Karma inversion. He has the ability to subtly alter luck, happenstance and fate to drastically increase the probability that intolerable motherfuckers will come out ahead. This power is limited to himself and to people and situations which he can physically see.
Personality: As a result of his power, he is not only needlessly ruthless and violent but intolerably rude, chauvinistic, and pigheaded. However, he has no actual disdain for others, he only treats them poorly to make use of his power.

Name: Perception
Gender: Female
Affiliation: Hero, probably
Power: Extremely good eyesight. Good enough to shoot a mosquito out of the air from miles away. But she would need a mounted turret to actually do that, because her power is limited to vision; she doesn't have a supernaturally steady arm. Her obvious uses in reconnaissance and other non-combat situations make her better suited as a hero, unless you plan on showing large sections of the story from the villains' point of view.
Blue Moon
Age - Generally appears to be 10, but can appear to be any age.
Gender - Female
Superpower - Age Manipulation: Blue Moon can cause an enemy to age or become younger at will. She is able to manipulate time in livinig organisms, but it requires a huge amount of her concentration to use her powers. She is a weapon for the enemy, used to torture and force others to give up information, or make them unable to fight back.

The Nomad
Age - Thought to be near 50
Gender - Male
Superpower - The Nomad cannot be tracked, observed, or caught unless he wants to be. Tracking devices or powers are completely ineffective, he can blend in with any crowd no matter where he is, and he can escape from any trap, cage, or form of hold. He isn't essentially good or bad.

Emilia
Age - Unknown, possibly as old as the universe.
Gender - Female
Superpower: Universal IrreversibilityEssentially, Emilia has the power to lock anything she wishes in time and space. Anything that she wishes to happen cannot be undone by anyone. Unfortunately for her, she used her ability long ago to trap herself between dimensions, so she cannot die, but she cannot interfere with the world. She is clearly with whoever the "bad" guys are, but she can't do anything about it.

Kinesis
Age - 30-40
Gender - Male
Superpower: Kinetic Manipulation/Redirection - Kinesis' ability allows him to take command of any moving object to speed it up, slow it down, change its course of movement, or stop it all together. He cannot cause an object or force to begin moving in the first place, but once it does he has complete command over its kinetic energy. He is 100% evil and bent on destroying the world (Or whatever the baddies are out to do)

Hope these were useful! I enjoyed making some bad guys. If you need more help, feel free to search around the super power wiki for ideas. Good luck to you! :)

Name:The Human Continent
Gender:male
Affiliation:Good
Power:Can become the size of a continent in any way, shape or form, like weight/height/width and such.

Name:Eviladdicto
Gender:male
Affiliatition:evil
Power:With the fact that his name has addict in it, you'd probably be thinking he has the power to make people addict to whatever he wants, but he is made out of all of these drugs merged together. And I'm mean ALL of them.

Name:Roman Racer
Gender:Female
Age:10
Power:She is a animagus(a person who can change into a certain being at will), who can turn into a cenataur that can run so fast/teleport, that it seems to manipulate time, yes, this speed is called time speed, which is even faster than warp speed, meaning it's so fast, it makes everything either lose color/gain color depending if she goes forwards or backwards. And yes, she's pretty young to be a superhero, but ey, Pyro's 12(me)!

Titanium Man would be quite different of course, because being too similar would be a bad thing and look really cheap/lazy/whatever.
Actually Titanium Man is already a Marvel character... Sorry.

Name: Hyena
Gender: Male
Age: 25
Affiliation: Bad
Power: Uses laughing gas canisters to subdue advisaries. He is also affected by the gas, but loves to laugh. So, like... whatever.

how ironic.
Name: Presea (The first name that came to my head. (I though in ToS :P))
Gender: Female
Power: She can control gravity between bodies.

I am pretty sure they have already created that in marvel or in DC comics. But if not its something that I have always had in mind
Name: Endo
Gender: Male
Powers: He controls heat, but he can only control it in the direction of drawing it to himself. This allows him to freeze targets at distance, while surrounding himself with fire. He also cannot be harmed by heat (except ridiculous levels such as the sun).

Name: Exo
Gender: Female
Powers: She does the opposite of Endo, she moves heat away from herself. This allows her to put targets at distance at fire while surrounding herself with ice. Naturally, she cannot be harmed by cold herself.

I have no clue how I forgot that since I remember fighting him in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.

Well, there's a name I'll have to tinker with then.

I think in general I find the more subtle powers without obvious combat uses much more interesting, especially when those characters are then forced into combat. I like seeing characters with powers like stealth, mind-reading, and probability manipulation more than characters with power like electricity, super speed and demon summoning. Of course, once you get many characters with those kinds of awesome combat powers, it becomes extremely hard for the less combat-oriented ones to keep up, especially in a combat-heavy environment such as a video game.

Here's a list of superpowered characters inspired by typical RPG status effects!

Name: Cobrah
Gender: Male
Power: Can breathe poisonous mists with various effects, ranging from paralysis, to skin boils, to intoxication, to instant death. The intoxication one is his favorite.
Personality: Frat brah. Like, this superhero shtick is wicked, brah!
Outfit: Snakeskin leather jacket, backwards baseball cap with a king cobra emblem on it, distressed jeans

Name: Visionary
Gender: Female
Power: She herself is blind. She however has the ability to detect the locations and movement of people and objects via sonar. She does not require any special sound waves to accomplish this - her own breathing produces enough sound waves for her to sense her immediate surroundings, and any sort of other sound allows her to see about as far as the sound can be heard. She makes heavy use of smoke, dust clouds and darkness to give herself the advantage in situations where no one else can see.

Name: Silence
Gender: Female
Power: Ability to eliminate all sound from passing through a region. This can be used on an object such as a motor or firearm to silence it, or a thin "bubble" of silence zone can be erected around a person to make them unable to hear anything beyond the distance of the bubble (since directly silencing the area that the person occupies in would make them unable to hear any sound, and thus would be extremely noticable).

Name: SeƱor Nanny
Gender: Male
Power: Puts opponents to sleep by putting them in a headlock until they pass out. He actually can induce extreme drowsiness or sleep with any sort of physical touch; the headlock is purely cosmetic.
Outfit: Like a Mexican version of Hulk Hogan

Name: Praying Adamantis
Gender: Male
Power: A devout Catholic priest whose soul was ripped from his body and placed into an immensely strong stone golem. His hard stone body makes him immune to all but the strongest physical force, but also slow and lumbering. His faith remains steadfast, but does not give him any additional powers (unless he's fighting a vampire, I guess).
I have to agree with LockeZ on this one, characters with nonconventional superpowers that are forced to use them in the conventional RPG sense are much mor interesting!
Here are a few more that I just thought of off the top of my head:

Name: Knocturne
Gender: Male
Power: Able to touch sound with his bare hands, identifying people not only by the sound of their voice, but also by the feeling of it. He can mold sound waves with his hands to change the way that others hear them (I.e. turning a cry for help into an "All clear" signal), or craft a physical weapon out of sound.
Personality: Very musically inclined, tends to be stuck up and call others out on any mistake that they make.
Looks: Huge, buff, typical Hulk kind of guy.

Name: Hocus
Gender: Male
Power: Can conjure mesmerizing flares in his hands, to attract all attention in the room to him. He is immune to mind control (As he can pull himself out of it using the fire) and mind reading.
Personality: Mischevious, cunning, swift.
Looks: Skinny, weak looking. Dressed in a long black cape.

Name: Pocus
Gender: Female
Power: Hocus' partner, she can flip through an unsuspecting targets mind as if it were a book, stealing any information she wishes. However, they have to be preocupied with something else for this to work, hence Hocus' powers. She is immune to Hocus' powers.
Personality: Very similar to Hocus.
Looks: Average person clothing, to blend in with everyone else.

Name: Rift
Gender: Male
Power: Able to move solid rock formations to create an opening or tunnel, instantly allowing others to access sealed caves and such. However, while he is using his power, Rift is unable to move through his created gateway, and if he stops using his power to move, the doorway will close itself.
Personality: Lazy, annoyed with everything.
Looks: Small build, dark sepia vest and jeans.
Last night I thought of another one, here it is:

Name:IceRider
Gender:Male
Age:16
Affiliation:Neutral(is neutral allowed, because if not, then he evil)
Power:Like Roman Racer he's fast, and the main reason why is because whereever he steps ice forms around his feet, and sometimes on. He doesn't go time speed but can still go faster than the normal human. He has many sorts of powers formed around his element, but his main one is his speed.
Name:Hunter
Alter ego:Xander Cole
Gender:Male
Age:52
Affiliation:Good
Powers:Enhanced physical abilities(strength, stamina, speed, agility, reflexes), Highly trained in un armed and armed combat, Expert in martial arts, Immune to any mind control, Immunity to aging, Regenerative factor.

Story:Born as an average child in a normal american city, Xander Cole grew up with little money and without a mother. He was an only child and lived in Brooklyn, New York.

When he was 15 he ran away from home as he was stressed and tired of living such a misserable life. After living on his own for 3 years he decided to join the army.

Xander was one of the best soldiers that anyone had ever seen. He followed orders, he was physically able for anything, he was smart and always knew what was best to do.

After being in the army for 7 years, Xander was chosen to be in an elite task force of soldiers. These were the armies best soldiers. They were tasked with the hardest missions that were deamed unsafe for the rest of the military.

One of his targets was a powerful mutant known as Wolverine. This was the hardest task they had been given and took up months of there time. After many failed attempts to capture Wolverine Xander was approached by some military scientists. They offered him the chance to bring down Wolverine once and for all. They told him that they could make him into a super soldier. Xander was sceptical at first but went ahead with it.

The proceedure was a total success. Xander had become more than he could have dreamed of. He had amazing physical attributes. Every day he discovered new hidden strength within him. It was time for him to do as he had planned and capture Wolverine. The military gave him any weapon they had. He simply asked for an axe. No ordinary axe though. It was an Adamantium axe, the same metal as Wolverines bones. He also requested specially made armour to protect him from whatever may come his way.

He finally caught Wolverine, and they engaged in a fight that destroyed a whole town. As Xander was about to finish Wolverine they talked. Wolverine told him about what the military tried to do to him and that they would do the same to him.

Xander came to realise how evil the military could be and went AWOL. He decided he could help the world more on his own, so he did. He let Wolverine go and they went seperate ways.

Xander realised that if he wanted to stay away from the militaries grasps he must take on another persona. He decided he would be called The Hunter! Along with changing his name he changed his outfit. He kept the specially made ultra strong armour the military had given him but modified it into a costume for himself.

This is how The Hunter was born!
