PROBLEM WITH MP3S IN RPG MAKER 2003

I have a problem with the playing of mp3s in any game made with RPG Maker 2003. For some reason they only play once. If the map uses an mp3, it plays fine when I first start up the game. But then it never plays after that. Like... If I start on the world map the mp3 plays fine initially. Entering a town and then exiting causes the mp3 on the world map to stop playing until I close out the game entirely. Areas in which I haven't entered yet that also use mp3s do the same thing. Battles also cause the mp3 to cut out. Midis and wavs work fine, though. At first, I thought I was struck with the stack error glitch. It makes playing some games really boring due to no music. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it something conflicting with the software? It's strange, because the mp3s DO work, just once.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Is this a consistent problem with all your MP3s, or have you only tested it on a couple? See if it's a problem with all MP3s. See if it's a problem with MP3s from different sources - maybe the program you used to rip or convert the MP3s is causing this error.
I do not have this problem in my game. Try downloading some other games that use MP3s - any game over 100 MB probably does. See if they loop correctly in those other games (they should), then import those MP3s to your own game and see if they loop in your game. Maybe one of your common events or parallel processes is interfering with music looping.

I'm not using any mp3s in my game I've been making. Only midis. And I'm using RPG Maker 2000. >_> However, this has been a consistent problem with every game I've downloaded that uses mp3s. The descriptions for the different forums made it seem like this forum was the best place to post this kind of question. I didn't want to post this in the comment sections for the various games because it's a problem with every game. Sorry I wasn't clear initially. ^^'
As you are using RPG Maker 2000, you probably have the "Value!" version (v1.5x).
Try the following:
1. Back up your project.
2. Download Force Harmony and patch your project with it.
3. Download and install Disharmony
After that, a different sound system is used.
With Disharmony, you can do some additional things too, like setting loop points in MP3s.

Interesting. So I should only install Disharmony after patching it with Force Harmony? I can't just download Disharmony immediately? Will this work with other games that I've downloaded that also have this problem?
Disharmony would have no effect on your game unless it is "forced" (that's why it's called Force Harmony) to use a harmony.dll file at all.
However, this has been a consistent problem with every game I've downloaded that uses mp3s.
Cherry went and assumed you're playing games made in RM2K v1.51, but I'm going to ask just so everything is clear: Are those games you downloaded made in RM2K or RM2K3? An easy way to tell is whether the RPG_RT.exe file included in the game has a purple or yellow icon (RM2K and RM2K3 games, respectively).
Also, do you have any codecs installed that would be decoding MP3 instead of Windows's default codec? Do the MP3s play properly inside a media player (like Winamp or Media Player Classic)?
My problem with MP3s in RM2K3 is they don't loop properly. It always pauses for a moment, which breaks the rhythm. Kind of annoying, but not a major issue.
They're made in RPG Maker 2003. Like Shadows of Evil: Wings of Time is one of the games that has decent mp3s made for it that has this problem. I thought RPG Maker 2000 couldn't play mp3s... The mp3s play perfectly in Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic.
