Sooo, I was sketching today as usual because I had forgotten some of my media files. I was browsing through some of my old pictures on my school HDD and found an old pic that ignited the FIERY PASSION OF INSPIRATION.
But at that point I didn't know who to draw. I wanted to use a female OC of mine, and in the end I ended up picking Rosalin from Blood Rose.

Now I'm hung up on changing her design or not. Y'see Rosalin's personality and symbols were inspired by Beatrix of FF9 (more so the song 'Rose General' by katethegreat19, a Roses of May remix). I don't know whether to move away from her heavily Beatrix-inspired design, because I do want the inspiration to be obvious, but...do I really want to go down that path? AGAIN?

So, I'm looking for the opinions of you guys. Which design do you like better? Comments, criticisms, changes?

Design 1 (the original):

Colour scheme: shirt, skirt and exposed sleeve are black, jacket is white, shoes/armguard are metal. Tights are red, the triangles and the cuff are red.
Design 2 (the new one):

Colour scheme: Jacket is black, skirt is black with red triangles. Sleeves and tights are black, shorts are white. The corset like piece (with texture) is red, and the criss-crosses are black. Shoes and armour remain metallic. The neck 'collar' is red nearest to the neck, and black on the outer part (the lines coming from it are small chains) The ribbon tied to the side of one of her belts is red, while the belts themselves are black.

Please, I really need help with this (so indecisive =3=).

P.S cookie to whoever can guess what picture I was inspired by (it's a fairly popular image)
P.P.S If I've put this in the wrong section, I'm sorry =3=
The 2nd image looks much better, imo.
both designs are pretty good.
I'd say the second one is a bit better, but I'm not a fan of the pointy fingernail things.
In the end though, I think the design should be more based on her personality (unless you're basing her personality on the design)
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

The second one has too many straps and belts. If you want to move away from the FF influence, move away from the Nomura influence. I do like the second one's hair better, and the removal of the corsage is good. In the first design, I dislike the triangular patterns that draw attention to her nipples. Basically I think the second design is much better in almost every way, but I'd remove some or all of the straps that are criss-crossed across the front of her blouse.

I'll make the top of it button up, and remove the belts on the sleeves. To be honest the second picture was not inspired by Nomura at all- I wanted a sort of goth look and belts are all the rage these days. Though Nomura -may- be the origin of all that, the concept itself is not restricted to his designs.
It was inspired by this:

Both designs have the red triangles on the breasts- I dunno I just draw whatever. I might also remove one of the crossed over belts, but not both, because one of them serves to hold her sword's sheath. Can't remove the criss-crosses because she has nothing on underneath them :|

I'll probably end up going for the black leather look, but I still want to hear a few more opinions =3=

Oh, hmm, I was not expecting it to be black. If you were going for a goth look I can see the straps working fine. I was imagining it with a much lighter color scheme. Like... well, you mentioned Beatrix, so I assumed you were going with a Beatrix color scheme. Or, well:

If you are using a gothy color scheme then it would look very different, and a lot less like Nomura's lineup of identical characters. In fact, I think the only female goth character Nomura has ever made was Lulu. And your character doesn't have anywhere *near* as many belts as Lulu. (Lulu's entire dress was composed of nothing but belts. I'm not even joking.)

I would say go with the first one; open the shirt up though... Have the shirt opened at the bottom about 1 or 2 buttons below her breast then have the collar open as well.
