SO I WAS THINKING OF DOING A VIDEO LET'S PLAY.

But I am worried that I am too quiet, not funny enough. I wanted to cover obscure SNES games, some PSX games and even some RPGmaker games. Though I don't know if I am cut out for it. Doesn't help that I personally hate my voice!
What makes a good Let's Play to you guys? Do you have to be a comedian ...? Etc.

Being a comedian helps if you're doing it blindly or don't have a lot of in-depth knowledge about the game. Sometimes the game itself can be the comedian. Enthusiasm is nice too, but.. not too much of it.
I did one recently on Youtube myself and I had the same concerns as you. Turns out I was quiet and didn't say anything funny but I'd still say it's worth a go, I did a short one (four parts) so it wasn't too bad. I reckon it's one of things where you just have to find your groove by making a few.
No one will make fun of you for giving it a go. Try it!

I'd say just don't worry and go for it. You're not gonna know if you're good or not if you don't try.
As for what makes a "good" Let's Player... You just have to be somewhat funny, and know some interesting stuff about the games you play. Not playing overrated games helps too.

Try to have a guest speaker (aka, do it with someone over skype while live-streaming or whatever). Talking to someone else makes it a lot easier to keep it interesting. Plus you won't feel as weird compared to talking to yourself the entire time.
Also, everyone hates their own voice. I hate my own voice. :D

I would honestly try to think of a gimmick to set yourself apart from other LPers. A "comedic" gimmick if you will. Other than good voice presence and being entertaining, you should just play a game you know really well and be able to provide cool facts and info about some of the stuff in the game.
Brickroad is suddenly becoming one of my fav LPers because he has a variety of ways of going about LPs. Like his one gimmick is where he'll play a platformer game he knows well, but sped up. Also I thought his X4 LP was pretty informative and interesting because it was almost like a nice quick video walkthrough. But yeah idk I am kind of in the same boat as you, but I sometimes I wonder if I really should start a youtube LP frontier for myself or just keep making gams and not go through the big effort. Because I find it really hard to focus and provide decent commentary even on the fly.

I'm pretty sure I'm not a breathtaking LP'er myself, but I do do LP's on my Youtube channel (the most glaring problem with mine is that I can get my computer to record the video game's audio, so all you hear is my lovely voice).
Anyway, there's not much to it, even though it may seem like there is. The biggest thing is not to expect your videos to get a lot of views right off.
Secondly, there's two main types of LP videos I see:
1) Informative ones (about the game, like Strangeluv mentioned; Brickroad's MMX4 LP is a prime example of this)
2) Comedic ones (plenty of these, like Chuggaaconroy's stuff)
...and you could consider this an archetype, but it probably falls under comedic LP's:
3) Casual ones (like, where the LP'er casually says random things, some funny, some informative, a bit of everything)
I don't script my stuff and generally just talk about whatever, generally I try to make it about the game. Mine, I suppose, would fall under the self-titled casual LP's.
It's not that difficult, really...unless you're trying to become popular.

there was a group of people who were filing false copyright infringements on LPers and getting them banned

Well, there are a lot of LPers. Not all of them got banned.
The main ones where Chuggaaconroy and NintendoCapriSun. Not sure about NCS's status, but Chuggaaconroy was able to come back.
And they weren't banned, they were temporarily suspended b/c Youtube never officially checks to see if the DMCAs are legit. All you have to do is counter-claim and you'll probably be fine.
