SUGGESTION ABOUT GAME PAGE UPDATES

Right now, when a game page is updated, there is no way to tell what has been added or changed. You have to look through the entire game page (actually, game PAGES, plural) to see if it is a new comment, a new blog entry, a new download, new screenshots, etc. This is inconvenient and causes me to look at game pages less than I normally would (Am I lazy? Sure, but I can't be the only lazy person on the site.). I think that the games list feature would be seriously improved by somehow informing a user browsing the games page about what exactly was updated to bring a game up to the top of the list.

For instance, if I see Phantom Legacy on the Games page, I know it's been updated recently. But I don't know if this update is a new demo or a witty comment from geodude until I thumb through the entire Phantom Legacy gamespace.

There are a few ways to do this. I notice on the layout there is a blank space to the right of where it says "Production/Hiatus/Canceled"- you could put an icon or text there indicating what was updated most recently. Likewise, the games page or even the main page could have a "feed", almost like on facebook, indicating what was updated. "So and so added a new screenshot to X", "Whatshisname commented on Y", etcetera.

I am aware this feature may not be trivial to code, but I wouldn't bring it up to the site's stakeholders/decision makers if I didn't feel it would be a significant improvement.

As a disclaimer, I don't know how much of this is taken care of by subscriptions, since I am not currently using the subscriptions feature. I still think it is worth mentioning, since not everyone uses the subscriptions feature, and furthermore, I can't imagine subscribing to every single game I have a passing interest in.

I agree that it would be handy to show what bumped the game. Some of this is already being recorded. Others aren't.

Currently subscriptions are just favorites, but have been worked on to improve their usability. If you aren't using them after the update, you will be using the site wrong. :)
