I really don't know if this is a crazy spur of the moment thing or what(it's quite late at night actually, and i seem to be permanently under the influence this holiday), but I've got a pretty big pile of games next to me that i'm planning to sell tommorow. Probly won't even be worth anything, they're all about a million years old. They're decent games though. Sniff.
I've decided only to keep my essentials. I don't even want to count how many that is because it'll just be depressing. About 4 maybe.

It really sucks being a student. Of my stature at least.
I really have to scrape up any money I can get. I'm not saying i'm money crazy or anything, but i'm one of those people you see picking up 10p pieces from the floor looking delighted with themselves.
I've been looking really hard for a job as well, but nowhere wants me(i must be overqualified hahaha)

I'm sure you guys can relate to me. I just feel down right now. Make me feel better and tell me at least some of you are in the same boat?
I don't want to sell any of my games, but there's no other way. ..and don't be the funny guy who mentions prostitution.

I think it's sad that one would have to say this here. I'm sure that if you hadn't spoken up, somebody would've cracked a joke like that. *sigh*
I would never suggest that! there's safer money in selling pictures of yourself online

I'd say that I sympathize with you, but I have absolutely no money problems at the moment.

aaaah I can relate to all this. just out of college and not going to university for a year means I have to work all that time but who is going to employ me in this economic climate? believe me, I sympathise, my dear!

even the video games! I am selling my copy of MGS: Twin Snakes on ebay because apparently it is a rare title or something (not that it is really worth having). all this to fund my holiday!

unfortunately I also have no suggestions on how else to get any money (because I have no idea). sorry. :(
Here's my sagely advice to everyone on the matter:
Try not to sell anything. Try not to buy anything. Make best use of what you already have. If you need cash, work harder. If you want things, want less. And like the old saying goes, anyone who can't find work probably is not looking hard enough.
Kinda ironic that you bring this up, Deeboo.

Remember that Xenogears Perfect Works book that was mentioned in your art thread (FANTASTIC book btw, not just for the pictures)? I used to be a proud owner of one a few years back, but I had to sell it for the money. Luckily, I bought it when there was a brief re-print going out; I got it for less than $60. By the time I sold it, the price had jumped back up to what they used to be on eBay: over $200 US. I made a good profit off of it, but I'm still sorry to see it go.

I've only sold a few games, but it was never easy. You should consider selling some artwork. You're probably really self-conscious about your now, but I'm sure I don't need to tell you what liberties college students will take to be able to stay afloat!
What a pity to see such a kind person feeling so bad... =(
I'm not exactly in the same boat as you, Boobledeeboo: mine would rather be a raft.
(Well, I'm still proud of my raft, because it didn't sink yet. :P)
Geodude is absolutely right: check ebay and such sites before selling anything, because some of your game could worth a fair price, and one of them could make you earn enough money to avoid selling the others.
By the way, if you actually bought a game, you can rightfully download the rom and play it with an emulator, but you surely already knew.
Finding a job is very difficult, especially since the crash (such a convenient excuse for the employers, isn't it? ), and even more for girls, who are even less paid than male students.
It would be great to use your knowledge to get money. Maybe you could provide scholar support to kids? Or help people who don't know how to use their computer, install a program, defragment a hard drive, and such?

Try not to buy anything. Make best use of what you already have.
What? O.o Even with food???
If you need cash, work harder.
Good idea...as soon as you get a job.
And like the old saying goes, anyone who can't find work probably is not looking hard enough.
Oh no, it's not that simple! In fact, all the people who are searching for a job would be just delighted if it was true!
Wait...so you were joking? Oopsie...sorry...:P

Oh noo! It actually pains me to hear that you sold that book. Though i'm not surprised you made a profit, when I was looking for it it was a ridiculous price.
I feel too big headed selling artwork, and I always get attached to my good pieces. I've given a few away to friends, and even though they've been really appreciative, for some reason I felt bad about it. Like i'm betraying my artwork by giving it away. Maybe i'm greedy.

@Izazie, cheers for the advice, it turns out I might have a couple of (kinda)rare games after all. I don't use ebay that much because i've been wronged by it in the past, but i reckon it's high time to give it another shot!

@Geodude, is it really? My bro has that game, though he has moneyaplenty, so I don't think he'll be considering selling it. It'll be worth it for a holiday :)
If you're going to school for art you really better get used to the idea of selling artwork.
nah, i'm not, art almost killed me at GCSE. i'm just doing it in my free time, and studying maths and more 'academic' things for ALevel.

so I've heard / read anyway. saw one on ebay without the booklet going for ~£60. I already trump that item!
£60!? that's some crazy shit.
Maybe the price will escalate in the coming years. My bro's gonna be happy.
I'm also broke to shit. Weddings here are very expensive. Hopefully the in-laws will foot a lot of the bill.
