UNDERRATED WAIFUS?

Embarrassingly enough, I sort of consider myself a "waifu conisour" of sorts. Here, I gathered a list of some underrated waifus from video games, some more well known that others. But first, what is a waifu?

Waifu
Noun
A female fictional character that the person describing them is attracted to/has a crush on. Usually from anime or video games, but can be from other media was well. The male equivalent is "Husbando." Originally dubbed on 4chan in the early 2000s, and later caught on as a popular term used by nerdy losers everywhere.

Now, onto the list. Yes, this is a top 5. Don't question it. The ranking is based on design, personality, and overall level of obscurity. Let's begin.

#5 Cath from Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade

She is energetic, cheerful, quick of her feet A N D A M A S T E R T H I E F!!! It's none other than Cath from the Fire Emblem series. While her normal outfit is great already, she easily takes the 5th place slot for her killer Fire Emblem Heroes alt, specifically the one for the "phantom thief" banner. Tights and leotards, the perfect combination. Not to mention all the cute accessories! The main reason she's on here is because her original game, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, is still Japan exclusive to this day. However, she is in Fire Emblem Heroes, the mobile crossover gacha game and the most popular game in the series, so a lot more people know about her than not. That's why, in spite of her fun personality and beautiful design she's only at #5.

#4 La Puchelle from Magical Girl Raising Project

Hear me out here, what if we make a ripoff of Madoka Magica, but add in the first and only TRUE genderbent male magical girl in anime so we get people to actually watch our crappy show? This right here is La Puchella, real name Shota, a boy who's a fan of magical girl shows and one day gets his wish granted and becomes a magical girl himself, transforming into a beautiful dragon lady with a massive extending sword. A dream come true for many, is it not? Already a cutie with near perfect makeup application and cute outfit, he/she is made even better by the fact that she is a guy. But not only a guy, a guy that transforms into a beautiful girl to fight evil! Why can't more magical girl shows do something like this? The only one that comes close is that one season of pretty cure with the femboy side character but in that he doesn't actually turn into a girl, he just wears a dress and is pretty enough to vaguely pass. Imagine the possibilities if more shows had gender bending magical boys/girls! But yeah, La Puchelle based. So sad they killed him/her off. Rip to an absolute legend.

#3 Franchesca from Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl

Ah, franchesca. Easily the most beautiful of any female character in all of Pokémon, yet few ever acknowledge her greatness! This character has only appeared in a single filler episode of the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl anime, "When the Bells Toll." But, in defiance of her incredibly low screentime, she has a good amount of fanart solely due to how attractive she is. Like, what could possibly be more attractive than a cute magician girl in a leotard and tights? Not to mention the heels? So cute! However, despite having an S tier design, this waifu is heavily held back in the ranking due to Pokémon being such a massive franchise, the biggest in the world in fact. Due to this she only ranks at a respectable #3 spot.

#2 Joule Adams from ReCore

This is by far the most obscure character on this list. From a super-obscure open world action RPG exclusive to the Xbox One, Joulie is a complete badass and the last surviving human on an alien planet called Far Eden. She's also super cute despite being almost completely covered. The eyes and the hair really sell the look. As soon as I saw her game today while sorting inventory at my job, it was love at first sight. She and the #1 candidate are the only reasons I'm making this post in the first place. While definitely not the most attractive lady on this list, she makes up for it with how insanely obscure she is.

#1: Lucy Westeria from Castlevania: Grimore of Souls

Isn't she just beautiful? Those lovely blonde locks, those cute glasses, that adorable outfit, those tights. (Oh mama) But wait, Castlevania? That's a pretty popular series. Why haven't I heard of this character before? Well, my dear reader, that is because this character appears only in the game Castlevania: Grimore of Souls. An uber obscure entry in the Castlevania series that released exclusively in Canada for only 6 months before being discontinued forever. Then, it randomly re-appeared on Apple Arcade, a subscription service for mobile games on iOS literally no one uses, 2 years later with basicaly no fan fare. Despite being a canonical sequel to Dawn of Sorrow and the latest Castlevania game both release-wise and via the official chronology, most people, even die-hard Castlevania fans, don't even know of it's existence. Lucy is one of the main characters from this game. A librarian (always a plus) that looks after the Grimore of Souls. Is kind, sweet, hard working, caring, graceful, strong willed, basicity every trait I like in a woman. For this reason and the level of her obscurity I rank her #1 on my list of underrated waifus.

So yeah, that's my list, lol.
Should this list cover only game waifus, or also include anime waifus? Should I make a separate list for each? Should I also make a mixed list? Also, want to make a best girl list, since there's characters I love but wouldn't classify as waifu for various reasons.

Mayday the furries have landed! Mayday the furries have landed! Abandon ship!

Edit: FYI this is a joke. I don't hate furries,
Ok I'll do a mix between anime and games.

Alys Brangwin (Phantasy Star 4). Her own game did her wrong it's cool as a plotpoint but heck I hate it. I hate Chaz with a passion, and loved Alys. She's cool and experienced, she's Chaz's mentor but doesn't treat him like a child either. She's usually the voice of reason until thing happens but it's still snarky and takes no shit from everyone. You can't make a cooler character. >:)

Lei Kuugo (Live a Live). She's also cool as heck. It's a bit more short-tempered and it's not until the end of her chapter that she ends developing and kinda maturing. There's other options on that chapter but Samo and Yun are bland :V. Lei is great.

Hanekawa Tsubasa (-monogatari series, i.e. Bakemonogatari). I didn't expect to like her this much, or maybe it's just because it's an anime that I've just recently been watching. But Hanekawa is a rainbow of things. She's smart as heck, but she underplays it due to insecurity. But she still outwits basically anyone in the series. She kinda becomes a force to be reckoned as the series goes along. There's also some uh sussy catgirl version but I prefer default Hanekawa.

-- I'll come back to this.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Last time I checked, Bakemonogatari was the #1 best selling anime series DVD of all time, so calling a main character from it "underrated" seems a bit silly, but otherwise I appreciate this topic of unapologetic gushing over cute anime girls that nobody cares about.

Lei Kugo is a beyond based waifu. Great character and easily the best in that game. Picked her as my successor almost instantly, even though I had to play through China twice because I was dumb the first time through and tried to train all the pupils evenly. Though, her original art isn't that good. Gives me early Fire Emblem art (FE1 to FE4) vibes and that's NOT a good thing. Luckily, the fans have made a lot of better art. Here are some examples:

Easily the best character in that game besides the villain. I really wanted to make her my MC in the final chapter but I didn't want to go through the hassle of recruiting Sundown so I made him my MC instead. Though Lei was in my final party along with Sundown (MC), Pogo, and Matsuru. Sundown Lei and Pogo are by far the best characters in the game with their OP ultimate attacks, (especially Sundown HOO BOY) so the rest of the characters can't really compare. Matsuru was only there because he had the highest stats due to me getting all the skills during his chapter, but that didn't matter too much as available skills matter a lot more than stats in that game and Matsuru's skills are really mid in the endgame.
