Can any of you help me or point me to any tutorials on lighting for RPG Maker 2003.My game is basically a Space Horror/Thriller, where the entire maps are pretty dark except for some emergency lights. So I need help on how to make lighting effects to try and get atmosphere with my game. So lighting as in lamps, how to get light shining in on some areas. Among other things like that. Any help is appreciated and thanked.
Lighting effects are pretty easy to do in Rm2k3 once you get the hang of them. Here's generally how it works:

First you need pictures. Just a simple triangular gradient will work. You can fool around in Photoshop of Paint Shop Pro and come up with something, I'm sure. Just make sure it's not too big. You're going to put a transparent light picture down on your light source. Depending on the transparency and color levels, you'll get a neat effect when your character walks under the light.

You're going to need to figure out the X and Y coordinates of the light source on your map so you know where to put the picture. To do this, make an event in the place you want your light source to be and label it "light" or something. Leave the event blank. Now make another event and set it to parallel process. Here's the code you need to put in:

Bam. Easy lighting effects. MAKE SURE when you show the picture you check the 'Image Scrolls with Map' or it won't work properly.
There is a pretty good/awesome thread on this started by Max somewhere when he asked basically the same question. It's how I learned to do this.

If you want and can wait a little bit (i.e. a little less than a month) I can so a few for ya. They're usually fairly fast, but right now I'm swamped with homework.

(I did the ones for Ruptured Soul and I know y'all liked that game's atmosphere)
