Hi there. I have a few questions pertaining to sequels and the creation of them!

I'm working with VX, or rather, still learning the ins and outs of VX. I finished the huge introduction of my big project "Odysessy of Suri Islands" which is up and available for play in the games section here. :D

Right now, I am working on part 2, where the story starts where "Pyra's Plight" ends. By then, the player will have accumulated levels, gained spells, and I would love to know if there is a way to imput a code or something so people don't have to start off at level 1 or whatever I set it at again. For example, someone may have learned Pyra's best spell in the intro, and it would suck for them to have to re-learn all of the spells! I hate when popular game series do this... Any advice there? It may be a bit much for me to program myself, but I would love assistance. <3

Question 2! I realize that my game's profile is just called "Odysessy of Suri Islands", which is the name of the game series, not each individual chapter. First, I need to either edit that OR see if each seperate download needs a seperate profile. I was wondering if I could combine them all on the same profile and keep updating the same game development blog. I really wasn't sure of where to ask this.

Thanks for your time, guys.
Well I am more or less on the same boat as you since the core of my game projects lies in the setting which will bring many common places and characters.

NOW you can do it this way:

You made your project and saved it. Now to make the next project you just make it using a copy of your first project, just adding/changing database as you need and of course, the events and maps.

Also, in the first game the player saved one last time, make sure that the map from where they saved is the startpoint in the sequel, so don´t erase that map, nor the saving event.

So when someone gets the sequel to play, you place an in game read me (ppl never read it if you make a txt, sadly) asking if they played the previous one and giving the following instructions if they did:
-copy the save file from the other game folder into this new one
-load this new game file from the load manu in the sequewl

Hope that helps :P
If i may make comments - designing a game that way is tougher to do than normal sequals. It's cooler, no doubt, but if you do that, you need to make a level cap for all the chapters in teh series. For example - someone could just train their character to lvl 99 in the first chapter and breeze through every other chapter. Also, you have to pace yourself with skills, or you'll end up with a vastly overpowered skill at the end.

And to build on Clest's post, you don't have to have to have teh last savepoint as a start point for teh sequal - just keep that same map, but make an autorun event to take teh party somewhere else for an intro cutscene if you wish.
