EPSXE SETTINGS??

Dunno if this should go here or in General Discussion, but here we are! So, in any event, I've been trying to reset this stupid thing back up, using 1.7.0 because that's the one I trust the most right now even though it's now like...2 something. I've been trying to test it out with FFVII since I still have one last video to do as a transition video from VII to Crisis Core, but testing it with the various video plugins and settings, I can't seem to get that sweet spot. I'm pretty sure one of these plugins I use is P.E.Op.S OpenGL Driver 1.78 or Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9. Anyone happen to have their settings that I may try? I wish I had saved a screenshot of my old settings but seems I didn't like a doofus. >_<
Just as an aside, yes, it was the right move to put this topic discussing video games in the Videogames section of the forum.

I say this because it happens all the time; video game topics in the General forum for some reason.
Try this website out. Lists some setting for compatibility settings. You can make adjustments from there.

Much obliged for that Ghost. I was looking around for sites and settings, but most of them didn't work as I'd hope, all giving me the same issues. Maybe this will be a good start though.

My settings look like...

...this. As I recall, there is a "special game fix" for FF7.

*Edit: I double-checked, and this is the 2.9 version of Pete's OpenGL2 Driver. Though, for full disclosure, I use PEC version 1.41 as my initial video driver, then choose Pete's OpenGL2 Driver from there.

*Edit2: I'm also using version 1.9.0 of ePSXe. Not sure if that makes any difference, but, as a side-note, the FPS before I got to the main menu for both FF7 and FF8 was pretty low on my machine. Like, I even went so far as to use save states to bypass it because it was just that slow!
Hm. I'll give that a try and see how that works. The setting I had from that site did take care of a couple issues, such as the top/bottom borders not going black and the battle swirl actually working for once, but it does NOT like being recorded at all and the audio loves to stutter for some reason. I do think it's that Pete's I use because the F4 doesn't work while recording, which I recall being a thing for me, and the Analog icon IS there when booting up for the first time so yeah.

You enable frameskipping during recording?
I don't change anything in the settings whenever I record. I use Bandicam to record anywho, and it never had problems before I had to install the new HDD.
Huh. Still same issues as before where the screen is really jittery when transitioning. Maybe it's just the emulator or something?? I honestly don't remember it doing that. @_@;; Though wish I could do something about the audio being as funky as it is, wonder what's up with that. Oh well, I'll probably have to deal with it! Thanks for the help though, Marrend. That might be fine, although I took off the Stretching Mode (left it at 0), because it looked realllllly weird seeing the menu not like I'm used to, ha. Dunno what the fullscreen filter actually does, now that I think about it. But hey! At least I'm not having those weird black bars catching old backgrounds during transitions, nor any weird green lines in backgrounds! Just sometimes stuttering in-game and the weird audio.

I think there's a bit of miscommunication. Pressing F4 while the emulator is running/active enables or disables frameskipping. So, if you're pressing F4 with no apparent change, that might mean the game is in a place where it's eating up too many resources as-is, and cannot go any faster. Getting to the main menu of FF7 was like that for me (hence, the use of saved states), so, don't get discouraged!
F4 is my fast-forward button, unless that's what you were referring to?? Otherwise, I don't use F4 normally while recording. Pretty sure it doesn't fast-forward in battles so yeah, probably is using too many resources there.
I'm actually hearing a bit about PSX. Is that one better to use overall than ePSXe??? I know nothing about any other PSX emulators, so...yeah...

I use that emulator. Well i think i do, is it this one?

If it is, i have good and bad things to say about it.

It is very simple and to the point compared to epsxe. It doesn't use plugins, but the one it has by default works wonders for most games. I think i've played most games that matter and they run quite fine and fast if you've got a decent pc with at least 2gb of ram available.

I don't know what to say about it because it's really simple. The configuration options are quite forward, doesn't offer much in terms of advanced features but offers enough for a decent play experience.

It emulates lots of games without problems, but some of them simply won't run properly. I've never been able to pass the museum level of medievil 2 because the game crashes after beating the museum's boss, a yellow triangle sign with an exclamation point is all that appears on screen. Valkyrie profile will freeze at random times. InuYasha: A feudal story needs you to re-insert the iso over and over because the voice files that trigger the starting flag for the battle start won't run on their own, same with Shaman King. Brave fencer musashi also doesn't run, and you need a good gamepad to play things like ape escape. I can't recall which other games don't run properly.

However, most titles that i remember fondly ran beautifully. Alundra 1 and 2 run awesomely, all final fantasies run too and so do many more rpg's that i couldn't get to run without lag in epsxe like sword of mana (or was it legends of mana? whatever the mana game for psx).

I guess i'm a bit biased because i prefer it a lot more to epsxe simply because i've never been able to use the latter without having problems of some sort because i'm dumb and i never get the settings to synergize succesfully.

ALSO, codebreaker freaking works exquisitely in PSX. I could never get it to work on epsxe! Play lots of games with cheats huehuehue.
Hm. Having a game freeze or not work when doing LPs would be a disaster, so that might not be a good thing for me even if it does run games well. That could be problematic indeed. But since it runs the FFs all fine, maybe it'll be fine for that (granted, once I finish FFVII there won't be much need to go back to FFs other than challenge runs hue). Thanks for the information though!

PEC is love. PEC is life. PEC is not Makerscore, though.

I hate emulating Playstation games for exactly this reason. I spend so much time trying to make each game look like it's supposed to that I'm worn out and don't want to play anymore...
Yeah, I don't remember having THIS much of an issue before at all too. I remember using savestates to load up the game for Megaman 8 caused some weird discoloring on the screen, so I always had to raw save meaning I couldn't just take a break whenever I wanted as usual. And of course, there's this issue with FFVII right now. Ugh...
