So, recently, I successfully made a teaser for my game which runs in 720p. My question, is that if I can have higher resolution parallaxes to compliment the resolution? For example, I have a tree I normally use with parallaxing, and its made for default vx ace. Can I make use of the higher resolution to make the tree either more detailed, larger, or both? I am trying to find the most effective way of taking advantage of the game's stable 720p
Not sure what you mean. Making something a higher resolution without changing anything about a graphic is basically the same as zooming in on it. It doesn't make it any more detailed.

I suppose I'm not wording it correctly. The maps themselves are unmodified, the game is just of a higher resolution, but all the ingame graphics are the same. I suppose your just seeing more of the map, and I figured maybe I could work on that? Though, doesn't vx ace work with um...whats it called, 32x32 tiles?
Yes, that is correct. Sprites/tiles are 32x32 pixels in VX Ace. A higher resolution means normal sprites will stay the same size, only the window will be larger. Using pictures, aka parallaxing, to map can be used to make maps more detailed, but try to keep the style and resolution of everything in the game the same, it looks weird with a really low resolution sprite on a high resolution background. Characters doesn't have to be 32x32 though, they can be larger. But even though the sprite would be larger, the "hitbox" of the sprite will still stay 32x32, keep that in mind.

I know that the Graphics class has a resize_screen function only works up to an area of 640 by 480 pixels. I also suppose that the separate functions of Graphics.height and Graphics.width would only go up to the associated amounts. I would not know how to re-size the map-grid outside of the default 32 by 32 pixels.

*Edit: I'm not sure if this will help at all, but, I'm seeing a number of functions in the Game_Map class that could be used to overwrite the map-grid. I have not tested any of them to see what effect they would have on the map editor, if any. However, I think screen_tile_x and screen_tile_y functions might be a place to start, and maybe have an eye on the parallax_ox and parallax_oy functions.
Have you ever considered 420b mapping?
