Jokes on them, I only make youtube videos out of other people's youtube videos.
Wow.
I get that these exploitable loopholes exist within copyright, but this is still sad to hear.
I hope support against this kicks off.

YT's copyright system super fucked up, film at 11
:(
:(
But I think the worst thing is the precedent they set. If nothing is done about this, then any corporation will be able to do this to anyone. Imagine any video you've had up for years. Any studio will be able to take it, claim copyright and then slap you with a copyright violation.
Sorry guys, this is my topic now. Gonna' have to ask you all to cease and desist. I'll be taking the ad revenue too, while we're at it.
*cough*
Seriously though, I wonder what the limit will be until another site ends up taking YouTube's place for content creators. I understand that google runs YT at a loss, hence any competition will struggle to hold a candle to it, but that doesn't mean there's no possible way for another site to spring up with enough content creators chomping at the bit. I wonder if some of the reason this nonsense occurs is because google thinks YT is "too big to fall". Yeah, well, yahoo did too.

This is not really a legal situation, and I'm pretty sure that the original creator would have a good case for filing suit.
The problem is that Fox has a jillion dollars to pay lawyers to draw out a court process, while most YT people do not.
Youtube is not operating according to law, nor is it legal to do any of this. Youtube is basically just catering to the big bux groups. If an actual legal battle took place over this stuff, I'd bet on a court finding that Fox was the one at fault. It's just that there's not going to be any battles unless enough people can band together for a class action, or unless some legal fund wants to help sue.
