WHAT'S THE ONE CANCELLED GAME THAT YOU WISH WAS FINISHED?
Posts
What's that game that got away? The cancelled game you wanted to see finished more than anything? It could be either a game that only exists in the form of screenshots, or a game with demo releases.
My first answer is A Blurred Line, but apparently it may not be cancelled and may still be in production. Lysander86 still comes back and says he's working on it every now and then.
Other than that, I would have loved to see more work done on Idunn Ymirlador. It was very original, even today, and seemed very promising. I can probably think of others, too, but that's the first one to pop into my head. I'd like to hear more from you guys.
(Sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread.)

One of my own.
Mayhem Maiden is basically on Hiatus right now, because whenever I work on it, I get tired of it really quick, since my high standards mean that each dungeon segment has it's own unique gimmick and it's very complicated to get the gimmicks right in a way that's actually fun.
I still open it up from time to time and fix bugs or dialogue issues, but progress is mostly stalled for now. I want to get back to it hardcore again soon...But I'm more motivated to make more stuff for the Shackles of Varn series (which are usually shorter games), and I'm also more motivated to work on this thief-based game I've started (that lockpicking minigame I made is GREAT). >_>

I go through periods where I can't seem to do anything other than edit a map for five minutes or fix some dialogue, too. However, I often am overcome with a desire to work on my game rather than anything else and I make a ton of progress.
You can either wait for those moments of extreme determination to come, or alternatively you can simply force yourself to work on it. Set aside an hour, say to yourself "I'm going to work on dungeon for this hour and not let myself get distracted", and get to work. After that first hour, you may find that you don't want to stop.
Also, I've thought of another game that I wish was never cancelled: Eternal Star. I first played it over ten years ago and to this day I remember it fondly. I've replayed it a few times since, and every time I do, I'm filled with melancholy over the fact that it will never be finished. I'd say that Eternal Star is the number one game I would like to see finished (other than ABL).
The game that I never played but what introduced me to RMN:
Obama RPG: Magical Quest 3 HD - Future Legend of Superhuman President Starring Barack Obama

Memories Neverlasting isn't canceled, per say, but, it's a game I wish to see made anyway. Now here's a game that I was given with a closed beta copy (which I still have) with which I tested and give feedback via PM back in August of 2012. No official download has ever been uploaded, though.
Synthetic Odyssey is also not technically cancelled, but, it's a hidden/private page. I gave the demo a review back in July of 2012. It felt very much like Final Fantasy Tactics on a 2-D plane. That, and there's this one song that game has that keeps propping up in my head, and I have no idea where it's from!
Do I dare mention Wyrm Warriors? That game isn't technically cancelled either, but, I'm not sure who's in charge of it either. It started as a Craze-idea, but, the baton passed to unity, who's stepped down in her own right.

Megaman Legends 3.
I cannot even begin to write how important were the first two megaman legends games for my early teenage years, so when capcom announced they would be resurrecting the series with 3 i was giddy... Until capcom cancelled it because they thought it wouldn't sell well despite all the fan support. I was devastated.

Banjo X would have been nice, but unfortunately it morphed into the vile beast known as Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Pretty much the same thing as cancelling it if you ask me.
All the other games I can think of are my own. I don't generally put a lot of stock in games, or enough to care if they get cancelled, anyhow.

It's funny, my brother swears Nuts & Bolts is actually an amazing game and he lists it as one of his favorites. We grew up playing the originals, too.
Nuts & Bolts would probably have a lot less stigma attached to it if it wasn't associated with Banjo-Kazooie. If you take that part out of it, it's really not that bad of a game.
I would've liked to see the Final Fantasy XII spin-off Fortress come to fruition, but Square-Enix dropped the world of Ivalice pretty hard once they decided Lightning would be the poster-child of Final Fantasy for the next half-decade.

I don't lament many cancelled games, but a few that I figured I wouldn't have minded playing (both cancelled and put on hiatus):
Cookie Cutter Heroes - A Luchino game. Fun-looking and cute.
Reap and Sow - The very beautiful farming/dream game by SnowOwl. One of the most surreal beautiful games I've ever played.
Bright Future - Great tilesets. I like how cute the post-apocalyptic world looked.
Transcend - Red Nova + unity + JosephSeraph + Luchino. Looked very cool until it broke apart.
Hanging On - Charblar's tiles look so good :)
Aether Pulse - The world that kentona was creating seemed really well-thought-out. I enjoyed reading about its progress. This'll probably continue later...
Infinity IV - I wrote a few quests for this game. It's a pity Nick had some real-life troubles. I hope he's doing OK.
As for non-RPG Maker games... Silent Hills.

I certainly don't doubt that N&B could actually be a good game on its own merits, and since I haven't played it since the demo was originally launched on XBLA it'd be hard for me to say anything about the quality of the mechanics and stuff. But yeah, the problem is that it just betrays the source material on such a broad and such a deep level that to me, someone who lists Banjo-Kazooie & Tooie as tied for his second favourite game of all time, it's basically unplayable.
Though it's on hiatus rather than cancelled, The Realms Shattered. Only a relatively short demo is available and yet it's easily one of my favourite rm games.
I was so offended by Final Fantasy X-2 that I had to stop playing. That was over a decade ago, though... And after weathering three FF13 games I think I have the constitution to attempt a second playthrough.

Chimera Report, definitely. That game had a commercial quality ABS, all done in freaking RM2K, which's an amazing feat.
it feels like cheating to name a project that was being developed over here, but Akropolis was full of interesting stuff and I'd be curious to see where it was all headed.

Final Fantasy X-2 is not that bad, honestly. The job system is pretty cool from what I remember.
It was fun. I just thought the story was terrible.
