DESIGNER / WRITER LOOKING FOR TEAM

Hey all. First post here, but long-time lurker.
I've been working solo on some RPG Maker projects, but would really like to try out working on a team. I'm wondering if there are any group out there looking for someone who can do some general writing and game design.
A little about me, I love designing characters, writing stories and scenarios, and assembling gameplay systems. I'm currently playing (and currently love) Homework Salesman, Rune Factory, and Persona 4. I enjoy all sorts of games, but especially those that with novel settings, complex mechanics, or deep character interaction.
What I'm looking for is an established team (one with at least one previously published game) that's already hit its stride and would like to invite a new member. I could contribute around 10 hours a week to the right project.
I don't have any games I can show for good examples, as most of my work has been for pen-and-paper games played around my dining room table. However, here are some samples of what I could do for your team:
: Create the mechanics for a new combat system.
: Design a set of characters and develop their arcs and roles in the story.
: Storyboard a series of scenarios for the characters to complete.
: Offer ways to improve gameplay balance.
: Give general design advice.
: Help start up a new project with a motivated, experienced team.
: Make workflows and mindmaps. Charts everywhere.
: Offer three decades of wasted time running Dungeons & Dragons.
Thanks for reading, and hope to be in touch.

You are probably a lot better off doing a few small projects of your own, or signing up next time there's a jam.
ETA: Especially the former, so you can show off your chops. That way, people can better tell if you're a good fit.

Might I also suggest possibly finding a team to grow with, versus an established team?

What would you suggest for someone who doesn't have the jack-of-all-trades powers to make a full game solo?

I only worry about new teams' remarkable skill at dissolving when you least expect it. But you're right, this is good advice.

Making a simple game with RTP. The skills you list in the OP are honestly all you should need for a decent RPGMaker game.
I may not have a game as of yet, but I can tell you from experience that there's a world of difference between adding onto an existing combat system and making all the entities and actions by yourself.
If you are skilled at this, you can still make a short game, but please do feature a gameplay system that you enjoy.

I'm going to give this a try. I'm rubbish at mappping, so I hope no one minds that it's all RTP, and mostly template areas. Thanks for the tip.

I'm less skilled with the software itself, at the moment. I'll look into some tutorials for the actual scripting in Ruby.
