Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

Mods and Bots Mafia
It's a dark age for the internet. Crackers are trying many new methods of getting their ad- and malware spam onto each and every website they come across, and website designers are frantically trying to put a stop to them. But two crackers are taking it one step further. They've developed an aggressive program, that allows them to instantly find the IP addresses and passwords of all admins and moderators on a website if they can breach the website's security. If they are successful in hacking into a website, they own it, and there is nothing the admins or moderators can do to stop it, other than discontinuing their deal with the server that hosts the website that once belonged to them. Luckily, the program mostly fails, because it cannot do anything before the website's security is breached. But one day...

rpgmaker.net, owned by kentona, was cracked night 0!
kentona quickly contacts the 9 other major gam mak websites to notify them about the crack. Everyone knows what has happened...
Concerned by the amount of bots on the internet, the 10 gam mak website owners had had several meetings explaining their various methods of security and bot prevention to each other, trying to collectively find the best way to combat the attacks on their website. They had found a near perfect solution, and all decided to implement that system of security on their websites. So if one of their group was cracked, that could only mean one thing:
"We have been betrayed."
Two of the owners in the group have a big smile on their face. If their program can take out the other 7 gam mak websites, the people looking to have their projects hosted will have no choice but to come to them.
kentona had been stupid enough not to make any changes to the security system the 10 had designed together, but of course, everyone else had made tweaks to the system on their own time. Only 2 of them actually succeeded in making their websites any more secure, though, and the crackers had closely followed 2 others to make sure they'd be able to easily bypass any changes they made to the system. Everything was going according to plan...
It's clear there is only one option left, if the gam mak websites want to have any chance of surviving. The 10 website owners must come together, find the crackers amongst them, and DOXX and DDOS them. Seeing how their malware is probably saved somewhere the other owners have no way of getting into, the crackers have to be stopped from ever using it again. Spamming their computers and leaking their information to the angry masses of the now infected rmn will certainly accomplish that.
Alright, there's enough interest. This will be a 'Chosen Mafia' game designed for 9 players. I've chosen to go with the more slow-paced game, as two people said they preferred it, and I kinda do too. I'll host a more chaotic game (Umineko Mafia) at some point in the future, or switch to it if we cannot get enough players.

What is mafia?
Wikipedia
Mafia (Russian: Ма́фия, also known as Werewolf) is a party game created in the USSR by Dimitry Davidoff in 1986, modelling a battle between an informed minority (the mafia) and an uninformed majority (the townspeople). Players are secretly assigned roles: either mafia, who know each other; or townspeople, who know only the number of mafia amongst them. In the game's night phase the mafia covertly "murder" a townsperson. DurinAg the day phase, all of the surviving players debate the identities of the mafia and vote to eliminate a suspect. Play continues until all of the mafia have been eliminated, or until the mafia outnumber the townspeople. A typical game starts with seven townspeople and two mafiosi.
Standard Roles and Rules:
Before the game begins, each player is sent a PM assigning him or her a role. The contents of the PM cannot be shared with other players. All roles are assigned randomly. There are three basic types of roles that you can get: Town, Mafia and Independent.
Town
If you are part of the Town, then your objective as a group is to stay alive and try to find out who the Mafia are. Since you cannot communicate with other players outside of this thread, you must work together and weed out who is lying and who is not. Townies who die still win when the rest of the town wins.
Mafia
The Mafia, on the other hand, have a significant advantage over the Town. They can communicate with other scum members outside the thread during night phase. During the night, they can come together, discuss, and kill a townie. If all goes according to their plan (which it might not), then that townie will be dead -thus cannot post or vote- for the rest of the game.
Independent
As an Independent, your job is to survive until the end of the game. Depending on your role, this may constitute killing of all Town-aligned players and Mafia and being the only player left alive or simply staying alive regardless of whether the Town or Mafia win, and having a separate win condition.
If all Mafia are killed, then The Town Wins!
If enough Town-aligned people are killed that the amount of Mafia is greater than or equal to the amount of Town-aligned people, The Mafia Wins!
If an Independent successfully survives and satisfies their win condition, they Win!
Game Structure:
The game starts out in something called a day phase. In this phase, all players who are not dead may participate in discussion as well as vote for who gets lynched (note that you can also vote for no one getting lynched). The day phase will continue until a set deadline has passed or when deciding vote is reached.
Once the day phase is finished, the night phase begins. No one may talk in the thread during this phase, meaning that only players with night actions play a significant role. Night actions are abilities possessed by special roles that can be used to alter the game during the night phase. All night actions, including the scum's kill, will be sent to me via PM(unless otherwise stated). Once the night phase deadline is reached or when all actions are sent in, I will PM everyone involved with their results and then a new day phase will begin. If anyone dies, then that person will be revealed.
Rinse and repeat until the game is over...
The Rules:
1. VOTING: Voting should look like this:
#Lynch Jeroen_Sol or #NoLynch
And if you wish to change your vote, first cancel your first vote like this:
#Cancel
It needs to be bold and with a # in front of it, to make it easier for me to make vote counts.
2. PARTICIPATE: It's not too fun when half of the players are always missing in action and only have a few posts. Try to post a few times during each day phase and contribute to the discussion in some way. This is also very important for the town's survival. If you don't participate, you are at high risk of being modkilled or replaced.
3. DON'T CHEAT: Although it'd be difficult for me to find out, just don't do it anyway. You'd be ruining the fun of the game. And if I DO find out...
4. IF YOU ARE DEAD, STAY DEAD: This game does not involve zombies. If you die, then don't post anymore. You can still cheer on your team/partner from the sidelines, though. I will make a separate "dead lounge" where dead players can chat (without revealing anything!). This of course doesn't apply if your role specifically allows you to speak while dead.
5. EDIT RULE: NEVER EVER EDIT POSTS. If you think your post has awful grammar, just make a new one to correct it.
6. DO NOT QUOTE PMs: Never quote from a PM I send you. Creating false PMs is also forbidden. You may paraphrase information from PMs, but never literally quote them.

Game-specific information (Important, this information is free for anyone to view, and is thus assumed to be known by all players!):
Chosen Mafia:
This setup is open. This means all roles, and the amount thereof, are known to all players. Only the distribution of those roles is unknown.
Neither the Town nor Scum is very powerful in this game. In fact, there are only two special roles in the whole setup!
Before the game starts, I will randomly divide the players into two groups, 2 Goons and 7 Vanillas. The scum may then communicate in scumchat, and pick two people to monitor. These people will have no chance of their security system being effective.
Of the remaining 5 Vanillas, I will randomly pick 2 who will become Chosen Town. Their Role PMs will still list them as Vanilla, though. So neither Chosen Town knows they have been picked. As long as both are alive, their websites cannot be cracked at night, and they cannot be endgamed. I.E., if the Chosen Town are the only two remaining Town players, this will automatically result in a Town win, rather than a Scum win, as it normally would. This means that, in order to win, Scum must make sure at least one Chosen Town is DOXXed during day phase. Chosen Town will flip Chosen Town on being DOXXed or cracked. If a Chosen Town is DOXXed, a tie in endgame will, as per usual, result in a Scum win again.
Of course, this would make the game heavily favour Town if the following rule did not apply: There may be no nolynches. Nobody is allowed to vote #Nolynch at any time. Plurality lynches are in effect, meaning whoever has most votes on them will be DOXXed. If there is a tie, I will randomly select who of the people with the most votes on them will be DOXXed.

You are a Vanilla, Town-aligned! You have no special powers, but can talk and vote during the Day Phase.
You win when all Scum have been DOXXed, or when the two Chosen Town are the last remaining Town players.

Goon x2:
You are a Goon, Scum-aligned! You may communicate with your partner, Jeroen_Sol, in the Scumchat, at any point in the game. On Night 0, you and your partner may pick two of the other players to stop them from being chosen. On each subsequent night, you and your partner may pick one website to crack.
You win when at least one Chosen Town is DOXXed, and you outnumber the Town.

Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

That's half the people I'll need already! Okay, then the question becomes, do people want to play a slow-paced game with emphasis on conversation, knowledge and scumhunting, or a fast-paced, chaotic game that might end in two day phases?
Whichever of the two is picked, I'll probably host the other one at a later date.
Whichever of the two is picked, I'll probably host the other one at a later date.
First, I'll sign up for this.
Second, I prefer longer. I like mafia games I can mull over for a while.

It's unlike a mafia thread not to be posted on for half a day.
Anyway, just two more spots, people! For those who haven't already, make sure to come up with a name/url for your in-game website!

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I will join as a representative of the website www.slavicgirlsdressedlikehamburgers.gov.tm
This is a game design website run by the Turkmenistanian government's Department of Designing Video Games about Slavic Girls Dressed Like Hamburgers. While other countries have allowed games of this type to fall into the purvue of the private sector, the Turkmenistanian authorities have taken the initiative in forming an official government body to oversee the developmetn of all such media.

You think I made it up but the truth is that's a real branch of the government in Turkmenistan
I'm pretty sure the only thing that can top tubgirl.net is goatse.net.
However, I can't help but barf a little in my mouth at the thought of tubgirl, so please change my name to...

Which is, as you should all know, an acronym.

Sounds like a website for me! Every time I see a kangaroo I feel this need to check if there is a yeti underneath it. That usually leads to me being punched and kicked, though.
