CloseSo so so so I'm coursing comics at a local comics school, and I kind of got inspired to write a series of short stories based on the central theme of love. :v
you've never seen me writing, and tbh I don't normally write -- but I'm going to post the stories here as I write and change'em :)
Alright, so I'm writing stories but I want them to materialize in short 24 page comics. as I've told you, the central theme is love, but not necessarily romantic love. I want to explore a different facet of love through each short story, be that the love a child feels for its animal companion, the love brothers feel for eachother despite their differences and lack of agreement in their way of leading their lives, the gentle love of a group of friends that've been meeting every month for over 10 years and know eachother like they're siblings, the intense love of a child for their busy and problematic parent, and so on. I want to explore the very specifics within these facets of love, and carve them into stories that are dramatically different, yet have a cohesive central theme and narrative.
They'll all be told through the point of view of an elderly lady, as every chapter opens up with you visiting her house, and she talking about a memory of something she's seen. She's peripheral to the narrative but I do want to give her her own chapter as a finale. :)
I'm not posting any stories right here right now, I'm just posting the concept and i'll actually post the stories as I go! I hope you find this to be an interesting concept XD
(also i've been busy, depressed and with absolutely zero creativity and social energy whatsoever and that's why I'm not posting. And... I was robbed yesterday. And they took a salary's worth of material stuff with them. ._. including my wacom. but I'm fine now, since I had some savings and my mom's helped me e_e i love all u guys kthx by <3 )

Prayed for ya, it'll work out. Love is a big subject to write about but it is totally doable. The real trick is to feel it so my suggestion is listening to music that connects with the particular form of love you're trying to write about. Ummm give me a sec...

Just an example of what I mean. Also don't forget the concepts of "love for one's people and culture". It's similar to the love of home but possibly on a larger scale that runs deep. For instance a person who hasn't been back to their home city in years might be at first troubled by how much has changed but the sights and sound suddenly start reminding him that he is indeed back in his element. Or something like that. God bless you and your projects, Lord knows we all need the help...

And that's another good example @Zeter, of which I had vaguely thought of but not as specifically! I want love to be represented in the most abstract and indirect of ways, as well as the most obvious. This is certainly a great example that paves the way for many others. :) Thank you! <3~

I might change her a bit to make her a bit more tender and romantic, maybe just change her purple dress to a more reddish tinge. (she's going to have a different costume each story so...)
And the first story's theme will be... Memories! Love for your memories, the fondness for that past that built what you are today.
