[RMVX ACE] WINDOW CUSTOMIZING/FORMATTING?

So...hi. I've been playing around with Makers for years now, starting with the Playstation game, 2K3, XP, VX... and now I find myself with a real copy of Ace.

So I figure I'll try to put together a short little project to further explore everything I can do, and maybe learn about some of the things I never bothered with.

Which brings me to scripting.

I've never messed with it at all, except for built in customization options on other people's scripts. But I've recently started to look into it as far as changing around windows/menus and their formatting is concerned (battle menus, the main menu, items, etc.).

Is there any chance someone has written up a short tutorial as far as that goes? I obviously know nothing about the language used, as I've never really dabbled in any programming languages or anything.

But some of it does appear to be fairly common sense, and enough looking through things has given me a slight understanding.

So would it be enough to know that "changing X to y does Z", or would reading through a more detailed tutorial benefit me?

If so, is there one more specifically about VX Ace scripting I can read?

Check out the Slip into Ruby article series. The beginning takes you through creating a simple bestiary using custom windows and the later articles break down the default scripts line by line and explain everything they do.
