So, as we all know, the Misaos are a pile of corruption and secrets and possibly also poop. And, anyway, just clicking a radio button can't explain why a thing is totally awesome and better than everything else.

So, here is a thread where you can share your choices for Best-Written Game of 2014! What game had super great story? What settings were totally cool and/or MADE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WERE TOTALLY RIGHT THERE, MAN? Which characters swiftly became your new best friends, causing you to forsake all subpar meatsacks outside the world of the game? Let us know! WE MUST KNOW!

I loved the writing in Soul Sunder as well as Luxaren Allure. The Heart Pumps Clay had excellent characters.

But oh my goodness, Quest Twilight Prince Prophecy Chronicles is hilarious satire. Love it. It wouldn't be the same without its voiceovers. I just wish it was longer T_T

Edit: Oh! And The Gift was an excellently written short story. Thoroughly recommend it.

When it comes to the quality of the writing, my favourite is most definitely X-Noir. The story, setting and characters in this game are incredibly convincing and well-crafted, and can both be humorous and serious.

Soul Sunder also has a powerful atmosphere, a clever story with two different endings depending on your play style, and some amazing characters. Plus, you get a party member who's sitting in a frickin' wheelchair.
The writing in Exeunt Omnes is also brilliant. Playing as a villain having an argumentative/philosophical debate with a hero character is a pretty unique experience.

Depending on your preferences, some other very memorable characters can also be found in Sunken Spire, Mayhem Maiden and Les Visiteurs Dans L'Espace.

With Renmants of Isolation, I really liked how the relationship between Celesta and Melchior went beyond mere words, and was actually part of the gameplay with how magic fused. Also, the "best" ending is so incredibly tear-inducing, it wasn't even funny.

With Soul Sunder, there was a particularly empathic moment for me, when Zero reunites with Myra. Myra doesn't recognize Zero, and Zero can't admit who she is. The whole scene just resonated strongly with me.
