RMN FANGAME: USING LIKENESSES OF USERS

I'm making an RMN fangame called Fast Times at Aremen High that includes many users from this site (moderators, prominent developers and other users) but I'm not sure of one thing: what's the process for being able to use their likenesses? Should I be PM'ing every single person who is in the game (which could be 50+ people) and then waiting for their response before I include them in the game?
What are the rules regarding using sprites from their games to represent their characters in the game? Should I ask for that permission too, since they created those resources? The thing is, that there is such a large base of people I would have to ask that this task might become impossible.
So, how do you think I should go about this?

You could make a thread just asking people to 'sign up' and then just PM the ones whose likeness you really, really want to use (say the mods and such). This way you have a big list of people who actually don't mind as well as your personal list of people you wanted.
More likely than not, those what you want will see the topic and give their okay, which would help with cutting down on PMs, too.
And if you're having issue getting enough sprites you can always ask people to make their own in the style that you want, too. People like to customise 'themselves'. It'd cut down on some of your sprite-work. Add in a general "I may have to edit some sprites" as a disclaimer and that should work out well for you.
Good luck~

OK thank you Liberty. I might just do that.
But to clarify, I would post this as a thread in the forum, or as a blog post on a gamepage? I don't feel like I have enough gameplay for a gamepage yet, so I'd prefer the former.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Craze did the thread where people submitted character ideas for Wyrm Warriors in the GD&T forums, and it worked fine.
Yeah, I meant in the forums themselves, not on a (currently non-existant) game page. ^.^
GDT sounds fine for it, too.

Your going to use the likenesses of a person? Because most of us just use pictures that aren't us as a profile picture. If you use our profile picture you probably don't need our permission (since I don't own the rights to Nicol Bolas Planeswalker.)
As for ripping materials from other RMN games you should definitely ask for permission. This community has pretty strict rules about using materials from other indie developers games.
I don't think most users will mind in the context of what your doing though since your not trying to copy their game. But you should ask just to be safe.
