WHY IE? WHY?

So, I am on another computer right now, and they have some old version of IE running (the computer is running Windows 98 :o). So anyways, my question is this: What is it that makes web pages only function in certain browsers? I noticed on the front page it recommends IE 7 or another browser. and I also noticed that all of the poster info (makerscore, avitar, etc) is all missing.

So?

Certain browsers implement features differently. The largest problems with IE all involve CSS. IE6 and lower are notoriously bad for using standard CSS and require a lot of different hacks. IE7 was a big improvement, but not quite enough of one. IE8 is able to pass the "Acid2 Test", which denotes when a browser is capable of implementing CSS properly.

RMN3 will require IE7 or higher to use. Anything lower, and you are completely on your own.
