I NEED SOME ASSISTANCE

I seem to have a bit of a problem. Whenever I download a game from this site it doesn't work. Rather then assuming the site is evil or doesn't like me, I figure there is something wrong on my end. I am requesting suggestions on what could be wrong and how to fix it.

Edit: If I am stupid and shouldn't have posted this here feel free to take it down (after you tell/help me, please)

Unzip it. If it's a RAR or 7z or something other than your usual zip file, you'll need a file extractor to open it. I recommend JZip.

If you at any point tried cutting and pasting the file, you broke it. Clipboard doesn't understand RTP. Instead, right click and click send to. That'll solve that problem.

Other than that, I don't know. BTW, I think this should have been in the help forums.
What steps do you take? How far do you get with downloading and playing?

Some games are zipped, some are compressed and others are exe files.
If you double click a .zip file it will usually open the same way a folder does and when you try to run the game it won't work. That's because double clicking doesn't extract anything, you need to right click to extract first.

That's the weird part, when I download a game it has the .RAR icon but says it is .ZIP. Oh and thanks

If they are Zipped I open the folder select all file and drag onto the desktop (does that count as extracting?). If .RAR I extract to desktop with WINRAR, and I thought clicking on the .EXE's would extract/install them for me...

I'll try right clicking and extracting instead of opening, highlighting all file .and dragging to the desktop. Thanks to all of you guys!
You don't have to do that. You can just right-click and choose the extract option. It'll make it's own folders and all. Still, good luck and hope it works for you now.
Thanks, I got some of the games to work! (one of them was the creators issue. It was missing the harmony.dll)
