WHAT KIND OF GAME WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ON-SITE?

i was wondering what kind of games ppl would like to see here on RMN, so by all means let's hear all about it :P
We would like to see whatever game you want to make.

Seriously. The great advantage of being indie is that you don't have to cater to the demands of the market. Don't try to make the game everyone else wants to see made, you won't be able to get motivated for that and will likely never finish it.

Instead, make the game you want to make. Make a game you would like to play. All that matters is YOU. Don't compromise your vision because of what others want. If your game's any good, we will like it, even if it wasn't made according to our specifications.
glad to hear that, but this topic was really just for shits n giggles :P thx for the input in any case.

I actually like that idea, especially when it attracts thousands of fans and they start bugging you about tweaking it to their likings, I'd have a hard time ignoring that like some people I know.

But anyway on topic, a game that I'd like to see is one that's a futuristic, and has a complex battle system with a lot of Eyecandy to take in like FFXIII or Yggdra Union. Don't mind me, I just like how it is.

Another would be minimalist graphics like Knytt stories with a rpg twist to it. Actually I think I'll try that myself!
nice, true that there isnt all that many futuristic RPGs out there that are of any note. except maybe KOTOR or Mass Effect, usually ppl steer more for the tradition medieval fantasy type RPGs that we all know and love. i agree with cyber as well, i cant see myself making an RPG I wouldnt play myself XD i dunno if anyone could really lol
If you have a passion for what you're doing, I couldn't care less.
Futuristic RPGs are pretty nifty. That mixed with a medieval setting, sorta like star ocean till the end of time. I fancy that~
Avoid fangames. More specifically FF fangames. If FFD and FFBMP don't chew you up, I will.
Games that dare something new are always on my list.
I definitely don't want to see games like "You are the chosen one to defeat the evil lord, but you have amnesia." If you can make something fun, unique, and attractive, I 'll be interested. ;)

Aw... My game is a fan game, but I am always trying to make it as cool and unique as possible. :P

Heyyyy.... That's what my Miracles of Ether III game is about :<!! Except she's a survivor either way

no problem there, theres plenty of FF games as is without me throwing into the mix lol if i did a fangame it would be for a less known game series or one that i feel doesnt get the recognition it should've had. one example is the Shining Force series, often referred to as Fire Emblem for westerners... i hate that referance personally, as they had their own different style and yet when FE hit US shores look what became of it? it turned hack n slash then disappeared into oblivion... a real pity imo.
Speaking of fan-games, I haven't see a Live-A-Live fan-game. I think it might work just fine. (Except for the battle system called "Checker Battle System")
NO! Touhou-A-Live is not a good option!

lol yeah LaL is a great example, i'd love to make a game like that :) not into touhou so no worries :P

would also love to make a great tactics game or 2 or maybe even 3 XD one based on Warcraft, closer to old school than the MMO... one sci-fi with space battles and ground battles, and one that i've had in my head for quite some time :P

Don't get me wrong, I'll support fangames. But new IPs always peek my interest a lot more than anything else..
I mean, look at my BMP resume. :P

Give or take 1 to 3 days - up to a week at most, not counting holiday struggles.
And I never subbed to SB even though I was watching a couple of playthroughs. Gotta do that~
Clever advertising, bro.
I'd like to see more Western-style RPGs on here. That's why I'm making one.
A western game with competent design could be pretty awesome right now.

Make something you love! And if it's one of your first games, make it small. Make a small, small game. Really small. Like, so small. Something that a person could finish in 30 minutes. That way, you can say you've finished a game and we'll have something we can play from opening to credits :)

Also, a game with a theme that isn't "1000 years ago" or "1000 years in the future" would be pretty neato. Like a Western, if you're into that kinda thing.

I disagree with this. If your only goal is to make a game that just you want to play, then this would make sense. But if your goal is to have your game played and enjoyed by as many people as possible, you have to consider more opinions than just your own. For example, when I started my project several years back, I had a lot of ideas that appealed to me that I wanted to see in the game. But after it became clear that most of my team did not like some of those concepts, I gave in and abandoned them. If you work with a team of volunteers like I do, you can't be a totalitarian about your game's design. Others will want to influence the game's design as well, so if you are stubborn about keeping the design to yourself, you'll have a hard time retaining people to help you complete your project unless you start paying them.

I agree. I'm new here and I was hoping to try out some RPGs, but I was sorely disappointed that so many on this site are fan games, or games that re-use copyrighted assets from well-known commercial titles. I have no interest in playing such games personally. I know that it's difficult to create a game with completely original characters, story, and artwork, but I have so much more respect and interest for these types of endeavours.
