There should be an event command for it. I don't know what it's called in VX, but in XP it's called 'Change Actor Graphic' I'm pretty sure a similar command exists in VX.

I believe they removed that option in VX for some unknown reason.
If you want to change a character >> Set move Route > Change Graphic.
Should do the trick.

I think this will change the actor graphic back after you leave the map. Great for cutscenes and temporary things, but this will change the graphic permanently:

I knew there had to be a Change Actor Graphic option! There's no way they'd remove it if it was in XP.
