Hello I'm not very good at rpgmakerXP. And want to Know what an easy system to balance is. The problem I got is enemies either do too much damage or very little.

Should player Def be low than enemy Def. And monster ATK lower than Player atk.

I have managed to balance the classes just find enemies do either to much or to little.


How much should a boss be able to take down a players health with a big attack?

Anyone got any easy systems?
There are multiple ways you can balance the game. A stat system that's balanced in one game will not necessarily be balanced in a game with a different set of characters and skills.

Anyway, let's take a look at damage with normal attacks. There are two stats that determines how much damage a normal attack does, ATK and STR. To get both stats right, first take the character with the lowest P-DEF and the one with the highest P-DEF. Now decide how much more damage the character with the lowest P-DEF should take compared to the with the highest P-DEF. Should he take twice as much damage, 150% as much damage or what? Once you decided, adjust the ATK of the enemy until you achieve that damage ratio. Then, once that's done, adjust the STR of the enemy until the actual damage is right. That's probably easier than trying to adjust both ATK and STR at once.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

As far as how strong a boss's strongest attack should be, a good guideline in most cases is probably "not strong enough to instantly kill you, but strong enough that you can't restore it with one healing spell." This will ensure that the player has to actually make use of the defensive tactics you add to the game other than just healing after every hit. Of course, this might mean altering your healing spells/items rather than your enemy attacks.

The follow-up question then is "How much more than a healing spell? How much effect should the defensive buffs and other defensive tactics have?" And the answer to that depends on how difficult you want the game to be. The more complex tactics the player has to employ to survive, the more difficult your game is.
