The Makerscore is a lie!

(Seriously though, I have no idea what you're talking about.)
I just want every game to be an Undertale fan game, is that so wrong!?
It's probably about the illusionary invisible tortoise Marrend killed a few days ago. :\

It's definitely not RMN as a site so much as the people with changing times

Now all we need is a snazzy tagline. How about:
"Knowing how much work it would take to finish your game... it fills you with procrastination."

(But really, I still have no idea what this status was originally supposed to imply. Who's getting disillusioned with anything here?)

I was reading the submissions for our survey, and it paints a certain picture. Coupled with some recent higher profile departures and 'quit RMN forever' blog posts, it's not a stretch to assert that there is some disillusionment. Now, to go along with that is my inability to make any significant changes/improvements to RMN since 2014. The problem isn't that RMN is deteriorating, it's that the facade is weakening! I was implying I am a charlatan, so the solution is to double-down on it, obviously.

But of course, I am wont to exaggerate a bit, especially if there is some wordplay to be made.

What is Earthbound?

Kentona, It's possible that for some people it was a good time to move on.
I think that the good way is to make site more professional/gammak oriented right now. Focus more on events and game design and development related topics.
I like RMN for what it is and these are only my generic suggestions.
I think part of the problem is that the site has gotten too social. More people are bringing their non-game related ideas and opinions to the site and it seems like, lately at least, that is where all the conflict comes from.

I remember in the early days I knew very little about the personal lives of other members, but could probably tell you how they feel about something like random encounters or use of rips. Now I know far too much personal information about people here.

For me, there's also the fact that I've been around too long. It seems like every "new" game topic has already been talked to death, or there is nobody around to say things worth reading. Every other topic is a facebook status.

This remembers me of a related but unrelated question...

How many of those people we see creating introductions topics actually sticks around in average?

I have a small paranoia theory that needs checking. Although I'll say in advance, no cookie-cutter solution will come out of it regardless. :p

Keep in mind that just because they don't post, if that is your way of determining if they are still around, it doesn't mean they are no longer around. A typical misconception is that the site is all about the forum users, when in fact the active forum users are a small % of the site userbase.

Or something like that.

Thiiiiiiis.

Well, that and a lot of people into nerd shit don't know how to social properly in the first place, but it's a lot easier to get over "This asshole disagrees with my opinion of Kefka" than "This asshole disagrees with my political/religious beliefs" when it turns into a flamewar.

Granted, I like some of the social aspect, in that it's fun to shoot the shit and goof around, but there's a lot of topics that super do not belong in a forum to discuss gammak.

PS kentona I like your avatar
No kidding though. As somebody who's lurked from the outside, I've seen people, very recently, presumably long-time members, just throw fits and leave for seemingly no reason at all, taking a giant dump all over the community and their peers in the process. I guess some people just don't mesh well with others?

Whatever the case, it leaves an ugly stain on the site for outsiders/longtime lurkers who are thinking about joining. They're casually scrolling through games and all the sudden there's a bunch of drama in their face. I mean, who needs that?

I just hope that it's not a trend moving forward into this new year.

Yeah, that is actually undeniable. That's why in the heated threads, I've really stopped arguing. If I have an opinion, I'll pop in and give my two cents, and as long as it doesn't turn into a shit storm, I might interact a little more, but for the most part, I'm sick of the toxicity of those threads. And I'm not about to blow up and ragequit the community. There were a few departures that really didn't sit well with me.

I agree with all of this.

I hardly post on these forums because there isn't much for me to talk about. I don't like social issues or Mafia game topics, and I'd rather stay away from the topics that have a tendency to become a tad overheated. I've looked into other sites, and I do not intend to leave RMN. Nevertheless, I've noticed a larger focus on game developing elsewhere. Is the grass greener? I won't deny that may play a small part, but I have to agree with Cap_H:
