Hello! Lots of things have crossed my mind this week. Mainly, I was thinking that I should start making a move into the industry of videogames somehow. This is my main interest as a game developer, and time is running. So yeah!

Basically my interest has always been making this a living, mostly because the game industry here is weak (there is maybe around 2-3 game development small studios with some impact), and I find that as some kind of challenge. I want to help changing that, I guess.

Anyway, I was reading some controversial blog in this site, and someone mentioned Google Forms, and I thought why not ask the community about this. So, I made a Google Form questionnaire.

Here is the link.

Anyone reading this, feel free to leave your response there. And of course feel free to leave any feedback here too, your thoughts on the matter and whatnot. Feedback about the questionnaire is also accepted, I trust the community knowledgebase, I know there is a lot of savvy people around here and that's why I participate on it. To leech all of your savvyness.

Thanks for reading!

So, I send you my answers and feel obliged to write more about it here.

I like your projects and would buy it personally and I think it got quite the potential (I would recommend make an itch.io page to grab some fans over there too as you can sell the game on the site). The problem is, there isn't too many people following it right now. You're really need to do the most to highlight it. Your pixels are usually top notch and can help you. RMN can appreciate this, so can artists and players on other sites.
A combination of Zelda and Metroid can be a golden mine, if you sell it correctly and without mentioning the combo too much. There will be others to notice it and point it out eventually (a short trailer with an ambient tune and zeldish boss fight, burning, whatever, can do the trick) I responded, that I would pay 5 bucks. That is the truth right now. However I would be willing to pay more, if the game was able to sell itself better. Like I prefer this screen over the one chosen for the form. That one is too grim. The yellow here is so pleasant.

Gameplay wise, the game should be well-tested and enjoyable rather than frustrating. My personal preference would be to focus it less on fighting and all the rpg stuff and more on exploring and environmental storytelling. Like the story in the original Metroid is so brilliant, because it's mostly atmosphere.
If you want more specific feedback, feel free to ask me.
Well I feel really cool now

I definitely wanna say, with this game's dim-lit and mysterious aesthetic I think it'd greatly benefit from having optional world-building bits to find as you explore the biome.
I actually forgot about itch.io! Hahaha!

I chose that screen because the one with the planet is a cutscene, but I agree with that. It has more depth in terms of colour, instead of everything dark and grim. Talking about inspirations, it's something Metroid did right, heh.

Fight-wise, I was actually thinking about making all enemies never respawn. I don't think that the risk of a barren empty place should be a problem, unless you had to backtrack a lot, something I'm willing to evade. Also, instead of refighting enemies over and over, I could put bits of info as kalledemos mentioned (I was already considering it, I started populating some rooms with photos, books and other things). It goes well with the main character's original mission; investigating what happened there. And gives another incentive to exploration.

Then there are the bosses.

I'll focus on working on two things for the time being. First one is a trailer kind of thing. I'll showcase one of the bosses, and some footage. This is productive since I need to finish that part of the game in order to do so. After that, there will be a demo. And then I'll probably put it on itch.io, IndieDB and GameJolt.

Then, we will see how things go. Thanks!
