The Fate of Mundus: Paradise Castle is a very generic RPG that somewhat utilises the basics of RPG-maker. The fate of Mundus tells the story of Thaum, who after receiving a message from the gods telling him that he is the mythical chosen one, must embark on an quest to save the world from the Castle of wonders. This concept is severely overused and feels very generic and standard which is complimented poorly by the lack of special feature to set it apart from other games, which makes gameplay somewhat boring and repetitive throughout the game.

Our story begins with a mysterious dream. A voice from the heavens calls down to our hero Thaum, telling us that he is the chosen one, and that he must save the world. Confused and hung over from “bad wine” from a prostitute, Thraum leaves to travel across the nation to enquire about his position as chosen one and more importantly “tell the whore” that he received the wrong wine. Though a very generic ( and possibly a little offensive ) introduction it’s not necessarily bad, giving a clear introduction to the story and giving the player a good idea of what to do, however its mere seconds after this, that issues begin to arise.

One of the most persistent issues with this game is the battle system. Battle density ranges from every twenty steps to everyone three steps and though this is rarely a problem, the level curve and damage to HP ratio is insanely unbalanced and makes the game experience very very frustrating.
The battle system is also very linear, with auto attacks being the only means of fighting until half way throughout he game, and the magic your receive later is completely useless compared to your
auto attacks. Since the battles are so heavily packed within the game this system become far to repetitive to enjoyable.

Another massive issue with the battle system is its interactions with the puzzles that litter the castle. only 2 types of puzzle/obstacle are found throughout the game, rolling boulders and flames which cause death if stood upon. If a random battle starts whilst you are line with one of these obstacles, you will die, no questions asked, and you go back to the previous save file, this was literally the most frustrating thing i have ever experienced in an RPG game, being unfair to a massive fault and ruining these puzzles entirely.

Another massive issue with this game is the character development. Thaum, our main character, at the start of the game is portrayed as loudmouth hooligan using slang terms such as “whore” and “asshole “ as well as considering picking a fight with a guard if it was not for his terrible headache. The trope of an unlikely hero is commonly used though it in itself isn't the issue, but sadly the inconsistency between this personality breaks the suspension of disbelief entirely due to poor writing..Thaum’s attitude retains the “unlikely hero trope” for less than 5 minutes into the game before the suspension of disbelief is broken entirely, calling someone an asshole and using slang in one line, then immediately transitioning to “ill be on my way then to see if the gods will keep me and not cast me into oblivion” This lack of consistency really ruined the experience of the game for me however, like a lot of issues in this game is fixable if an amount of effort is applied.

Overall The Fate of Mundus, was a very frustrating and inconsistent game which can greatly improved with feedback from the community and a couple of updates. In its current state the game is ridiculously hard to complete due to the battle systems consistently small amount of distance between monster battles and the amount of things which can make you lose a puzzle very unfairly. the story makes a decent attempt at a plot twist which was actually well portrayed and generally interesting, explaining a lot of lore of the world which was pretty consistent. With a lot of effort this game could have been a lot better than what it is however as it is right now ; Potion simulator which 100’s of deaths caused to glitchy puzzles and a decent and cliche underlying storyline

 1.5/5
( Note i have a large list of reasons to justify my score, if you think the reasons mentioned in my review do not justify the score, please message me and i would happily justify my answer.

Thanks for the review. I agree, it's sorta bad, but I created this game like 5 years ago; back when I was still learning to create. My skills are much better now, but have no plans for another project at this time. there have been some ideas, but nothing COOL enough to actually spend time on. I have also messed around with the newer engines, thanks to Steam Sales. :D :D The last RPG Maker project I did was the Fallout 4 2D Demo. It's just a small spoof, but some people seem to like it. Thanks again for being honest! Cherio! :)
