She dreams of fires every night. Of an empty house in the mountains where she once lived. Her past is a mystery, her life is a dream and those who try to help her the most are the ones she trusts least of all.

Sometimes what lies between waking is more true than the life we live outside of it and sometimes we tell ourselves lies about the past and things that were done.

Who can say why the dreamer lies?
Who can say when the dreamer dies?
Who can say whether death is just a longer dream or if the life we live is a dream and dreams are our lives?

Examine yourself in the world of someone else's dreams. How will you react to the dreamers memories? Will you run or try to change what has gone before? Will you find meaning in this random bullshit I spit out and labelled a game or will you write off your reactions as inconsequential?

Are the deepest dreams best forgotten?

Completed!

Yosh! Version 1.0 is out and ready for people to download and find bugs in. ;p

It has 5 different endings and isn't quite the pile of shit I was expecting it to be. That said, it's not the best game I've ever created but there might be something in it that's a little redeemable. Don't expect awesome quests, people. This ain't an RPG, but hey - it's complete!

This is so ambiguous and vague that it makes me curious. Looking forward to playing all these interesting looking games.

Looking good! I'll have to play this! (Oh and it suprisingly reminds me of the sound of flames)
I may have a fascination with fire as the antagonist. Or something. Probably comes from a childhood of fires being BAD. XD

The concept sounds really interesting, reminds me of games like The Mirror Lied and Yume Nikki which I like.
...there will never be a ym kind of anything in any of my games. hate that game. hate it so hard.

That said, I fear that you guys are expecting more from this than you should. I just write descriptions really well. You... shouldn't get crazy expectations. To be honest, if I could get away with writing "Herp, Derp" as a description this game would have that. Unfortunately I cannot so I just went stupid with the vagaries. >.<;

Lol so you better ditch arrow keys as controls then, because Yume Nikki has that too. can't risk being similar at all in any way to that game because every single thing about that game is bad, including having graphics and text and existing within this universe.
Already did that~ Sound of Flames. ;p

Honestly, though, story-wise and character wise that game sucks balls (imo). I know a lot of people like it but I never understood why. I hated the thing. It's weird but it's one of the few games out there that I've ever actively hated before. :/

Yeah I was wondering if this was a sequel :P

Simply put, people love wandering and mind fucks. To my knowledge, not many games existed like that before Yume. That's why we have games like Miserere and Middens, it's a genre spawned directly from that game.

I actually do kinda like yume nikki. It does feature unique graphics and an interesting plot. But here's not the place to argue about it, is it?

LOL

Don't worry, what I liked about Yume Nikki was the atmosphere since it had a lot for a simple RPG Maker game (a bit like Lisa), so that's what I'm comparing to your game, at least from what I can gather from the pictures ;)
Had to edit a slight passability error that I forgot about. >.<; Otherwise, it should all work fine!

5 endings, about 5-10 minutes of play time.
Hey, this is very fun! It gave me goosebumps! It doesn't resonate with me personally, but with stories from my dad and my girlfriend's parent's families. I only got 2 endings so far. The first one people probably get when they don't know any better. And, maybe the good ending? It seemed pretty good to me.

I'll have to find the others later, but great job!

Definitely worth playing!

Alright, I love the game so far. I got 3 of the endings. Could you tell me how to get the other two?
(I got the ending where you jump down the building, the one where you die lonely and bitter and the one in which you like play with your daughter)

You should really release an ending guide.
I found this game wonderfully dark. I liked how, as a player, you never were entirely sure what was going on and it complimented the protagonist's situation.

Ehhhhhhhhhhh...

I guess this wasn't really my type of game. I did kind of like the story a little bit better the second time I played it, I personally can relate to it a little, but I don't know; I didn't feel like I was playing anything.

I especially became a bit agitated when I had the main character jump off the roof and I got chastised for it at the end. It wasn't because "her life didn't matter to me", it was because I thought there was no other option for me to progress, since the door doesn't seem to work, and you can't even access the menu? The options pertaining to what exact choices you could or could not make to progress towards a certain path were not clear enough, so ultimately I didn't get any sense that I was in control over the plot until I got curious enough (and found patience) to play a second time.

Also, spamming "you must jump" more than maybe 10 times in a row wore out its welcome really fast.
That's fine. I didn't think everyone would enjoy it but there were reasons for how I designed the game. I'm waiting for a certain review to be added before I talk about them, though, because a lot of the points it brings up will have rebuttals as to why the game was designed in such a way~ ^.^

I'm scared to post a review for this game because I don't hate Liberty and I want to post a review for Dungeon Crawl first because it will makes this one seem less gratuitously criticizing, if one thing it's just because I don't think this game is irredeemable it's just that I personally found some aspects frustrating, and yet still found it a promising game. It's so hard to judge these games because one can just use a rebuttal of things like "it's supposed to be frustrating" or "these details were intentionally left vague" or "you're judging an art form purely on the basis of game terms"... a review for this type of game is hard to write without coming off as closed-minded or even inattentive or just plain "the wrong type of player".

(Little does she know the review currently contains a comparison of this game to Yume Nikki. *ducks for cover*)
Then that's good, isn't it? This one will get plenty of reviews. And many players will ultimately have the same experience. And even if it benefits the story line - frustrating parts are still frustrating.

I have yet to play this game. I was playing the bachelors game first

On a sidenote - I never got through Sound of Flames simply because every line took so looong to listen to (nevermind it being a constant repition in the very beginning). It may not be my cup of tea.
Honestly, most of what happens in the game is deliberate design choice and yes, it's supposed to be frustrating for a reason. I expect people not to like it too much because it doesn't play like a normal 'proper' game, deliberately. But yeah, I'm waiting on a certain review to be accepted to the site so I can address this in full since they make mention of things they didn't like and how it... well, you'll see it when it's accepted which shouldn't be long.

But again, I can understand why people don't like the game and I won't hold anything against people because it's fine not to like aspects of the game much - I pretty much expected it and as long as it got the reaction I'm looking for, that's what counts most. :DDD

Let's just say that you're not supposed to like certain choices and decisions for reasons and that there is almost always a way past the things you didn't like. (Almost.) Some may just be not the choices you wanted to make and contain detriments to them. X3

Also, half of the equation is missing so some part of it won't be complete due to the second game in the series having to play off this one. But if you don't like it much that's fine and you were supposed to feel that way a bit. ;p

But hey, I look forward to the review, even if it's a bit on the negative side! XD
