Iris: the most precious material on the planet. 300 years ago, the war of Heaven and Earth was waged over the Iris and it devestated the land. At the Battle of Arnothh, Heaven forces defeated the hero Dorias and decimated the Earthly Army thus winning the war. Ever since, the Heavenly Empire has controlled everything on Earth: it's people, it's money, and most importantly, it's Iris.

Fifteen years later, a young hunting boy named Kai Scaffa is thrust out of his daily life on a globe-trotting adventure. He and his newfound friends will uncover mysteries, unleash ancient forces, and discover the truth about the world they thought they knew. But can anyone be prepared for the ultimate threat that lies just beneath their feet?

Iris -Between Two Worlds- is a traditional fantasy RPG developed by Shinssan Developers. It has a slightly more serious and realistic fantastic edge, but it retains all the entertainment and excitement one would want. Although currently in production, the game will be extensive containing well over 10 hours of gameplay. Everyone at Shinssan is looking forward to its release, and we hope you all do as well. A demo version will be released shortly.

The Demo Version of Iris -Between Two Worlds- has launched!

We're all very excited about it, and we hope you enjoy a little fragment of what we've been working on! And by little fragment, I mean a really little fragment. This is basically the first chapter of a very long game, and we're hoping for some feedback or suggestions on what we've done so far so that we can improve in the future!
Thanks to those that have supported us! There's still a long way to go!

And for those of you that downloaded the 1st version, the second is up and has fixed a few bugs.

this game is kind of cute/charming in spite of itself

I too found it cute. I got all the way to the end of the demo and still found myself curious about what's coming next.

I think the battles may be the weakest part of the game. Kai and Norman, for most of the demo, had only one ability, and it was a TP one that either strikes twice, in Kai's case, or does extra damage, for Norman's. There's no elemental weaknesses to exploit or any real deep strategies, other than hit hard, heal, repeat.

You could change it up a bit by adding some more skills earlier for Kai and Norman. Perhaps an attack for Norman that's not as powerful as True Shot, but always hits? Or maybe an attack for Kai that hits two random targets? Or maybe draws aggro to himself (which would be especially useful when Neria joins).

I also found that Neria's main attack almost always did no damage. I know that mages are generally physically weak, but I think she might be a little too weak. If she wasn't healing, I had her defend.

I think it's a pretty good bet that this game is no longer being worked on, which is a shame. However just in case the dev does pop back I thought I'd add my copper coins to the pot.

Like the above posters there is a 'cuteness' factor to this game that can't be ignored. It has a native charm that makes you keep playing even when there are things that annoy you in it. So that's a good thing, the charm, not the annoyance. The combat however is tedious. There is no challenge to it, or at least there isn't in the version currently available. I'm not talking about including complex strategies and spell fusions systems or combat specialities. I mean some of the basics of battle just seem to be missing. Whether it's the lack of elemental weaknesses as Unity has mentioned, or the unbalanced nature of the party (seriously Neria shouldn't be in combat at all) but it does need to be looked at with a critical eye to aid a little flair.

The mapping isn;t bad, a few areas could do with improvement, cutting down on some space between things would be good, as there is a little too much distance. Also I noticed a few minor spelling/grammar issues but only a few so that's also a plus.

Basically it comes down to if you do pop back to read these, there are people that would like to see the game continue. I hope it does.
