The Way Ep 1
All who exist are wanderers...
Strayed Wanderer, 05/09/08 01:07 AM
Despite being considered one of the less impressive episodes, it is one of the most important and my favorite.
This episode presents the setting of the entire series, The Way, where people known as wanderers struggle to move onward for their own reasons, or a lack thereof.
The default battle system is used, but is not utilized to the extent it is in later episodes. The traditional leveling system is pushed aside for the notch system. Which consists of equipping specific items to slots in the main character's sword and
acquiring a certain amount of points from battle. When the item reaches the amount it specifies, the character gains the attribute of the notch item, whether it be a stat or skill.
In addition to the notch system, the main character can choose between different Auras, which alter his stats, skills and other attributes (ie: resistances).
Several minigames are included in this first chapter of the story, including judging rabbit races and jumping over rivers on a windy day. A rock-paper-scissors-esque dueling system is also included throughout the series, though in its most basic form in this episode.
All in all, it is the beginning of a great story, an amazing universe and an epic game.
